So, it allways ends up in the same way.

I get killed/destroyed/run out of supply/fuel and need to start over.

I do 1-2 survey missions to get 100-150.000$

Are there no other ways to make money? With every other activity i lose lots of cash. salvaging ships is a joke cos they sell for like 600-800$ and you need lots of supplys to even get em combat ready.

trading missions dont pay much at all compared to survey missions.

Im playing for the tri faction so im mostly on war with everyone else and even if i manage to kill a small pirate fleet, i only get like 2000-3000$ bounty payout.

ill got all savage skill to lvl 2-3 and a few combat/technology ones.

General Discussion / Wolf Class frigates are just anoying to fight

In basicaly every fight with wolf class friagtes on the enemy side, the battle just drags on and on and on....

The wolf class ships just constantly warp out of the firing arcs of my ships, without doing any real damage.

So its mostly just running in circles all the time till the readiness drop down enought so they take engine damage.

Fast fighters somewhat conter these but i mostly end up fighting 2-3 wolfes in EVERY single enemy fleet and that realy made me quit the game, cos i was sick of waiting 10-15 minutes in each battle.

I love the game and i never had problems with wolf frigates in all other builds, mainly because they werent that common.

Hi there,

i realy like starsector, i just reminds me of mount&blade. The game itself is realy great (Best AI i have ever seen) but one thing realy hampers the enjoyment.

The game gets way to easy once youre lvl 10+ and have any cruiser in your fleet. I can solo wohle pirate fleets (20+ ships) with just a apogee and a dominator.

I know the game is in alpha, would be cool if we could get some alien faction with REALY good ships, these shouldnt be captureable and be like 5 times stronger as the normal ships.

Anyway, keep up the good work, the game is simply amazing and i recommend it to every friend i have.

Suggestions / New Battleship Class with Apogee design

Hi there,

i dont know why, but i allways end up playing Hornets Nest and Nothing personal because of the awesome Apogee cruiser. I actualy managed to win Hornets Nest just with the Apogee and the freigther and i also beated nothing personal after trying like 30 times :D I think i like the Apogee because it looks like a high tech space ship, its weapon are also very highly advanced, like the antimater blaster and because of the long, stylish design, i reminds me somewhat of the earth cruisers in star control 2 :D

It realy would be awesome to see a high tech battleship with a similar/close design as the Apogee, we already have these bulky looking balistic battleships so it would fit pretty well. i would suggest to give the new battleship very powerfull shields and high tech weapons like lots of energy slots, lasers and blasters (how about 4 antimater blaster turrets  ;D  ;D  ;D), high flux capacity but weak armor/hull and allmost no point defenses....and slow/medium speed.

Suggestions / Colorblind mode

Hello there,

it would be nice if you could enable a color blind mode. I have a hard time to see if a ship is an enemy or a friendly one because both squared around the ships are the same color for me. I would suggest an option to display friendly ships with a green square and enemy ones with blue squares.

Suggestions / Explosion shockwaves!

hi there,

today i played starfarer again, mostly hornets nest and sinking the bis´mar. After blowing up the onslaught multiple time, i asked myself: "Where is the shockwave?! this ship is huge!"

Wouldnt it be absoluty cool if big ship (cruisers + capital ones) would realy go out in a huge bang? Other ships which are very close could take damage or even blow up by the shockwave. Ships further away from the shock wave (like half a screen) should be dragged by it. I suggest to include a 4-5 second delay to the explosion after a ship is destroyed, so the player has some time to react to it, you could display blue sparks on the ship before it blows up etc.

Basicaly, just look at space pirates and zombies, they have realy nice shockwaves, just a bit to fast ones. Its one of the features i realy like in spaz and would like to see something like this in starfarer, maybe a bit more realistic aproach

If im alt+tab out in the new preview version 0.34a than im not able to set any weapon group to autofire....it just doesnt do anything. It did work in the old version, so something did break it :P

Hi there,

how about a nice irc chat? Space pirates and zombies has one too and its pretty popular, people allways talk about starfarer in there, cos we dont have a starfarer channel at all :D

i have a pretty hard time to see which damage type the enemy´s do, i first thought all machine guns etc do explosive damage but some do kinetic damage and still havent found it out which enemys use what.

It would be nice to have some feedback, like if a kinetic weapon hits the shield, display some kind of shield dispersion effect, just a small one...so you know that something realy bad for your shields hit it. I would suggest the same for armor/hull damage, maybe some kind of minor explosions or particle effect for it if explosion type hits the hull. or maybe change how the damage numbers are displayed. Like it uses a bigger font if kinetic hits the shield or something similar.

i love the new shield balance in the 0.34a preview version, works much better than before! I think the most amazing thing about starfarer is the flux system, i just love it...it reminds me so much of mechmarrior: i actualy like the way it works in starfarer even better :)

How about more stuff that uses the flux mechanic? Like a Nebula where you have 200% flux dispersion, or only 50% etc. Or maybe some kind of support weapon, like a beam which you can use on friendly ships to lower the flux?!

Btw, somehow the steam overlay isnt working in starfarer, so i cant chat with my friends while playing it :(

Hi there,

first a little story. Around 2 weeks ago, i wondered why no one is making a space game which plays like star control/star flight and looked all over the internet. After searching for some days, i finaly found Space Pirates and Zombies and instantly buyed it. Its a nice little game, but i had the wohle time the feeling that im playing a shot em up game instead of a space combat game. After chatting in the SPAZ channel, some guy finaly mentioned starfarer.

My first reaction after reading some information: "Is this real?!"  ;D

My second reaction: preorder  :)

Now after playing the alpha for around 10 hours, i can finaly say that i had way more fun playing the starfarer alpha than the spaz beta which is allmost feature complete.

The space battles feel just right in starfarer and i love the energy management and how you actualy have a reason to lower/rise shields. The missiles and torpedos are realy well made, it gets pretty intense when you dodge a torpedo volley in the last second. The starship designs are awesome! I cant stop playing hornets nest, even if i only manage to win the mission every 3. time. This apogee high tech cruiser is just sooooo amazing  ;D. Some things i noticed:
Shields feel pretty weak or better, they generate to much flux. I readed the live patch notes, seems like its already changed :) Well i cant find anything to complain at , this game just feels right. Im wondering about the campaign part, does it feature a randomly generated galaxy? i realy hope so, that alone would give the game like a unlimited replayability
