I can demonstrate the behavior with a Scarab equipped with an Unstable Injector and 3 pulse lasers versus any simulation Dominator.
When I let the AI pilot it will as expected easily flank and get behind the Dominator, shoot it up for awhile but then when the Dominator gets to a sliver of hull left the Scarab will no longer close in close enough to use its weapons. Instead it jukes around aggressively behind the Dominator.
I don't know if this is combat readiness related, the Scarab will go into decreasing CR before it can finish off the Dominator and may get into malfunction danger.
