If you are happy stockpiling money till you decide what to do next, you can do that.
That one's important. There is no inflation in any way and the game doesn't really scale in difficulty (only thing I can think of is the things you find outside of the core getting less d-mods) apart from missions you have to take on, which you simply can decide not to do. AI planets don't develop and even with nerelexin they don't grow, all the colonies just stay at level 3 being useless forever. I remember a game where I collected millions without upgrading my fleet because I was looking for a place to start colonizing (I like making my own cluster) and just didn't find anything, but the commission money kept rolling.
At least for now the sector is really just your plaything. Just don't get ganged on.

I personally edited in blast doors and resistant flux coils as hullmods, just to cement the thing as a brick wall.

I'd be surprised if the automated ships even have any life support systems to begin with, so you'd have to somehow cram a life support chamber in there.
Hm, make that a hullmod somewhat like converted hanger perhaps?

Killing trade fleets also causes a shortage on the planet it was heading for so it's better to just camp the target system, loot the wrecks and then "just happen to come by with the exact stuff you guys need, what a coincidence haha".

For sneaking around: if a lawful faction sees you turn it on (IE your new sensor profile is big enough for them to see)
Fairly sure that's wrong. If they already see you with the transponder off and then turn it on it does nothing for you and they will still demand a cargo scan
However they don't do the math to conclude that the fleet that suddenly popped up should have done so earlier and to be fair, they probably coudn't know either considering various hullmods.

Escort Duty can also be a way to keep a ship safe(er) while keeping it in combat, either because it took a lot of hull damage already or because it's outclassed and would surely die alone.
As for PD: Try going PD only on a Conquest. Silly, but it does annihilate smallfries.

I'll probably end up having to make a mod for this, but I had to ask...  Why is "Commerce" and "Military Base" considered "Industry"?

Do what I did and edits industries.csv. You turn commerce into a structure, because it's *** that you cannot trade on your own planet without gimping yourself, while the AI doesn't have that limitation.

I have no idea what Alex was thinking, that was just STUPID.
I actually have to ask: How?
I tried but I just get various errors. The line should be this:

Now I tried removing the "industry" right at the beginning, I changed it into "structure", I changed the order, removed the "urban" or not, it doesn't work.

What I could actually accept as an industry with commerce would be a boost to accessibility instead of stability, stronger than the waystation of course.

When in storage, the "sell" option becomes the store option. In the fleet screen, select the storage (else you sell) and click on the icon, it's above the row of other options for ships like mothball.

If you mean ships with civilian grade hulls, these are generally transport ships for cargo, crew or fuel. Very useful if you need the space, very useless in combat.
If you mean things like the Kite (S) class shuttle, other than styling on your opponents while you let three paragons mop them up, no. I'll go do that now actually. But really, get an armed version.

Those ships reduce the amount of supplies needed for exploring planets, useful if you just map out everything when planing for a colony but generally a waste of space otherwise.

Why are you hating the odyssey. I made a ship showcase to show off some of it feats and actually improved on it. In AI hands it can solo well over 100 DP by now - an onslaught being part of that.


I have to chime in on this.
No clue what it is about this build that makes the AI love it but it's amazing.
Just now my "aggressive" officer in this thing decided that turning on the plasmadrive and then drifting right through the middle of a [REDACTED] Ordo sounded like a good plan. She somehow survived that -the fighters sure didn't- but nearly overloaded her shields and had around 5 destroyer-class ships against her. Then she seemingly got stuck in the middle of the map. 
Somehow she survives the carnage with under 15% hull and absolutely no armor anywhere, destroys one ship after the other and eventually falls back to the rest of the fleet as some astral decides to send it's fighters on the last enemy that the Odyssey was still fighting. Might just have to savefile edit her into reckless after this.
I can only imagine the look the crew of my Onslaught had as the Odyssey passed them and then later came back utterly wrecked just as if nothing had happened.

As title says, when I scroll down my officer list the game crashes to desktop, giving a Fatal: null error. The crash happens exactly when I scroll past officer #10s field in the list.
I currently have 12/10 officers, one with an empty portrait due to an outdated portraits mod, but those happen often and never cause issues. Tried deleting the last two officers in the save file and I did get them to disappear, but the list still claims I'm at 12/10 and the crash still happens.
Rather annoying because I can't fire those two leftovers and I have to be quite careful when skilling up officers so I don't trigger the crash

Not sure if this is a mod causing it, I can't really decipher the log entry. Sure has lots of Os.
