I really like the way these ships look, the Cobra and the Viper are my favorite ships. And the Joyeuse pretty much roflstomps everything.

I make ships with paint.net

it's very good for kitbashing.

That's what I want to try out first, thanks. ^^

David uses Photoshop, and other spriters that use it agree that it is a good tool. I understand the process to be generally that you start at 4x the intended size, aligning to pixel boundaries for near-verticals and near-horizontals, and then reducing; which is sort of a hybrid of painting and pixeling;

I use Paint.NET because it's simple, but also has layers, and a lot of times I borrow from existing Starfarer art for the greebling, especially when I want sprites to look like they belong with other Starfarer ships. My process for Nomads was to create outlines in Inkscape, because it has good alignment tools and can export to bitmaps via the clipboard easily and quickly, and then do the painting and detailing in Paint.NET.

Other than that, it really comes down to artistic eye, and attention to detail. There are a lot of pixeling techniques outlined at the pixelart community on DeviantArt that I used to frequent, so I would reccomend that as a potential resource.

Can't think of anything else ~
Alright sweet! Thanks for the well detailed response man. I'll check those and GIMP out( thanks again :O)

Modding / Spriting.

So, I didn't know if I should put this in this sub-forum or General Discussion. Anyways I'll get straight to the point; I want to try out spriting to create my own ships, see what I could do. What program(s) does everyone use? (also sorry if this is a nubcake question; never done any modding besides tweaking stats and ***)

unfortunately that looks exactly how everyone in America drives. they cant figure out to either slow down for safety because I DON'T WANT TO DIE or get a ticket for there stupid obsession with speed. or to go the frig around.

but i have seen this a bit as well in game. the AI needs a little tweaking when entering the map.
I thought cRPG was the only place with the stereotypical Euro's :/

General Discussion / Re: Eagle-Class Thoughts

I really dislike the 3 graviton beams on the Eagle, the Autopulse/HIL's were OP no doubt but I honestly don't see any use for the Graviton beams, they have good range but that's about it. Even doing kinetic damage they do nothing to a ships shield larger than a frigate, and it has 100 DPS, is this intended or are they just really underpowered

Go to   C:\Program Files\Fractal Softworks\Starfarer\starfarer-core\data\config
then enable devmode which is in the category of things that cannot be  changed by modding and you will be able to edit variants in game. After you do so the changed variants will be in a starfarer res folder in the fractalsoftworks file, then just copy and paste the new variants in the starfarer variants folder, then you got your new variants.

Impressive, I want to see some more classes of the Aurora and the Eagle. Do you plan on doing a Dominator class sort of ship?

the parrot could take it out most likely.
lol, regardless of which one could take out another one, the demolisher looks more intimidating than  the parrot.
