Ladies and Gentlemen,

Feedback: I really like your mod. The idea behind it is cool. It also fits the game lore nicely. The in game execution is good. There are some things that could be improved but, other users have already mentioned most of what I could think of in terms of bugs or improvements.

Suggestion: Upon first meeting, the recruiter offers the player a small comm device. When the player is ready, he can activate the comm device to talk to the agent and pay the fee. This would make it easier to join after first contact. No more hopping the universe trying to find the one bar he currently is at.

Bug 1: If I start a new a game with the mod enabled, the recruiter appears at the first bar i visit. He can later be found for about 2 or 3 months but then completely disappears.

Workaround: Start the game without the mod. Then, when you have the 1 Million credit entry fee and wish to begin, add the mod to your existing game. The recruiter will appear at the first bar your visit. I did this a few hours earlier and it worked well. 

Potential Bug 2: After finishing the first mission all of the other agents offer no new contracts. Several months have passed. Always just "We are working on getting some new intel, please wait". Is this normal?


Summary: Please keep developing this mod. It is fun, helpful and adds more options to the game. More options are always great. If people don't like this particular one, they can just decide not use it. Please do not be discouraged!

Solution found!

During the re-installation of Starsector.exe an error appeared: Some files could not be overwritten. -> Repeat - fail, ignore, next file comes up. Among those files were some audio.jar files and a few others. I was surprised. Deleted the whole starsector directory except for the mods and saves directories. Previously I had a folder called "installer" under Starsector, from where I ran the setup.exe. Deleted that folder too, started the .exe from the Partition d:\.  Reinstalled, no errors.

After trying all kinds of combinations of active and inactive mods: Pre-install Not even Ship/wep + 2 necessary libs would start. Post-install that worked. Started a new test character: Mod works, the Contendor cannon was available at the starting market.

Readded all of my mods (including GKSec) and started again. Everything worked without a flaw.

One thing I would like to report though: When I went through the lists of mods that 091a or just 09a or older, the mod index page turned out to be inaccurate! There were a few mods listed as 09a in the index. Upon entereing the thread it was listed as 091a though. The mods concerned were Neutrino, and Stopgap. Is this the correct place to mention this or do I have to bring this information to someone else?

I deleted the mods Fringe Defence Syndicate and Vesperon. Their index entry of 09a was correct.

Short summary:
Fix: Complete deletion of Starsector folder + new installation of base game
Information that brought about fix: During reinstallation of game on existing folder, some x.jar files were inaccessible.
Assumed problem:    Some main files of Starsector were somehow rendered inaccessible or slightly bad. Only ShipWep pack somehow triggered the fail condition. The mod itself is not defective.

I am certain that Starsector is 0.9.1a RC8. Last download was from the blogpost March 10 2019. I have also doublechecked the libraries again. Even did a complete delete and reinstall of graphicslib as you suggested. Lazylib and the other libs are up to date and active.

Regarding IFed Legacy and the mod list in general: I had a few mods installed but not active. They must have appeared in the mod list. Ifed was one of those. I have appended a new mod list with only the ship weapon pack as listed, but not currently active. The deleted mods are: Fix empty planets, Fuel syphoning, IFed legacy, Power dolls portrait 1 +2, Sanguainary Defectors.

Just for my understanding: Could the reason for the crash be that this mod tries to "take" some content from another mod to spawn an IBB bounty? As far as I undertand this here mod is the master for IBB bounties. It connects to other mods and creates IBB bounties with some of their content. I think this might be the issue! Page one of this thread has a listing of all IBB bounty mod connections. Is that the defenitive list? I could use that list and check all referenced mods for their update status. Does this list also contain up to date info on what minimum update status each mod needs to be compatible with the Ship Weapon pack mod? If there is a different list, please inform me. I will now see about updating the other mods.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I request help with a problem. After much testing and filtering I believe this mod is the reason for my issue. The game loads normally, then a second after the main menu appears and the music starts, the game crashes. I have already made a full reinstall of the mod and the required lazylib, graphic lib and nex.  I searched for similar error messages relating to the line "CombatLayerHook.render(ShaderHook.java:213)" in the log. I have also went through the standard Troubleshoot Q&A and found no applicable solution there.

Found only one thread without a solution: It hinted at another mod not using updated libraries. I updated those already, but the error persists. I therefore think that the libraries are not the issue. I cannot think of anything else i may be doing wrong. I am aware that I use a small amount of mods that are on the 09a level instead of the 091 level, but the game works without problems when they are enabled. Only adding this mod here to the pile makes the game crash.

Enabled mods. json is appended as txt.
The shortened error log is appended.

Gentlemen, thank you for your help. The "Sunderbug" no longer plagues my game. Deleting "iFed Legacy" mod and also "Hegemony Aux extra ships" mod did the trick. I checked the files you mentioned and did not find an empty array. However, the contents of the second mod may have been the culprit. There was no entry for hegemony ships in that list, only for adding the aux ships. Maybe that was the trick?

Here is the modlist for my Sunder-spam in market problem. txt file, 3 entries at a line. Straight copy from the enabled_mods.json. Addition: It happens a lot for pirate markets too. Most faction mod markets and special markets appear unaffected. Thank you for your time.

I would like to report a bug that I assume is either caused by Nex or tied to it. Many fleet shops offer mostly Sunder-class ships in the destroyer range. This leads to some shops having almost nothing but Sunders available. All regular ones with and without D-mods. It happens with independent and Hegemony markets. Also there were and are a small number of NPC fleets comprised only of up to 8 Sunders. I find this problem bizarre and it only appeared after having a new playthrough with the newest nex version.

I have searched the forums but have not yet found a solution regarding this issue. Unrelated: The "cannot meet Vesperon Combine representative bug" does not appear for me. Should i post a list or log? I have a large number of mods active. Thank you for your time.

I have attempted your solution and it unfortunately did not work. I deleted the "old" nex folder and then started the game without nex, but did not load the save. Then I reinstalled nex 0.9.1g. The save game could not be loaded and it gave an error message. The style and content of the message was similar to when I tried to load the save with a "mod comp error" warning below the savegame. That warning did not appear and logically it should have loaded the save with 0.9.1g.

Then I uninstalled 091G and reinstalled 092. The save could be loaded without an issue but the crash happened again, with a similar error message as before.

I just had an idea. Could it be, that the mod attempts to find an Agent (shady guy, destabilizes markets and so on) in an array but cannot find one? Or maybe the array that holds the base Agents is not correctly defined? Or perhaps the location, where the agent should do his thing, can't be found or loaded correctly?

I will copy the savegame files to a different location for safekeeping and in case they can come in handy in the future. Then I will start a new game with nex 092. I'll monitor the progress and report in again if the error appears again. If any of you have other suggestions I can still try them out with the "old" save files.

Thank you for the quick response. My Savegame indeed started with 0.9.1c Nex. I upgraded to 0.9.2 a few days ago without taking the 0.9.1g in between. I just now did the steps you recommended but unfortunately the crash still persists with the same pattern. I have checked my VParameters file for RAM allocation and that seems ok, still.

I cannot think of any more reasons why this error persists and I can't try loading the save without some other modules for testing. It gives me an error message when loading. Just to clarify: Would starting a new game with the newest version of Nex installed still be vulnerable to this error? I would hate to lose my progress but what if that turns out to the solution?

Or are other modules not properly integrated, could that be the cause? I have noticed that shortly before the crash the Vayra's sector mod fails to load something. However it appears to handle the exception without a problem and without a crash.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to post an error message. This is my first post, I've read the FAQ and a fruitless search for a solution brought no answers.

Description
The game crashes to desktop with an error message "Fatal:null. See Starsector log". It happens at the very same time in game, about a few seconds after starting my last saved game. The save is from the 26.06.2019. It always repeats at the very same time in this save game. It happens in every savegame I make, sooner or later. In those cases the point of time and reason for the crash are the same as here. The error has first started appearing about two weeks ago. I upgraded the nexerelin mod files to the newest versions one week ago. A reinstallation of the nex mod, two days ago, brought no betterment.

Oppinion
To me it looks like some part of nexerelin array isn't handled correctly when trying to call the CovertOpsManager. The error keeps happening at the exact same point. I've had it about six times in a row now and the error description is always the same. I recently added some newer mods to my game, such as Varya's Sector, Hazard mining and Celestial Circle. Maybe the interconnection between one of those mods and Nexerelin is the problem? I lack the knowledge and experience to judge.

Please take a look at the situation and tell me if a fix is possible. Unfortunately I can't add any files (except the zipped list of active mods) due to size constraints, even when using zip. I can find some online upload website though, if you need to see the file.
