Mods / Re: [0.8a] Starsector+ 3.7.0
« on: May 11, 2017, 01:17:15 AM »
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

SS+ will no longer be updated going forward.  The number of worthwhile features within it has dwindled, which can just be included in other mods.  Crew salaries and probably vengeance fleets will be gone altogether.  Nexerelin will likely take the officer death and battle map enhancements.  Dynasector will improve the named bounty system.  SWP will have the few remaining vanilla balance changes.

I'm a new player and after my first vanilla campaign i started to try some mods, ss+ is the very first mod i ever tried and i'm having a blast with it so i'm sad to hear this.

@Cosmitz : Thx for reply and i do agree this scaling mechanic is monodimensional end too simplicistic there should be more variety!

edit : is it faction warfare a planned feature?
Though the mod hasn't updated yet, Nexrelin provides faction warfare, market capture, pre-0.8 proc gen and mining.
In terms of mod bounties, ss+ adds famous bounties that give mod-hulls with different stats and weapons, as well as a late game challenge. Gotta collect them all.

i will look forward for Nexrelin to be updated then, looks like it's gonna be an awesome mod to have.

Edit : now that i spent more time on this game and got a good fleet seems that bounties are challenging but doable so the claing isn't that bad after all.

I'm finally out from the early game mud and have some cash to build a decent fleet but i have few annoying questions :

1) in this game i decided i will go for bounty hunting and i made my first million with it. I noticed that gradually those named bounties offer bigger rewards and fleet to fight are harder. Is this a case of difficulty scaling? and if yes with what it scales? My fleet? My level? Other stuff?

2) Since those bad guys have really nasty fleets i was looking around to find some money making alternatives and i accepted hegemony commitment, i blow up enemies and take cash and loot but can i conquer planets for my faction? How does Faction war exactly work?

That's all for now , stay tuned for more...

Hah, I play Grim Dawn too! Dreeg's Evil Eye Occultist here—looking forward to the expansion!

i won't say how many hours i have sink in GD nor how many characters i rolled cause i'm quite ashamed.

i would like to thank everybody who is helping me in this thread, i played some hours more, followed some of the advice above, and i'm slowly getting better.

Hope i will become a decent pilot (yeah i like to pilot my ship manually, it's more fun like that).

Final notes : i think this game will cure My Grim Dawn addiction, all i'm playing is GD and Battle Brothers since forever, starsector could be part of this gaming loop.

General Discussion / Just bought this...climbing the learning curve.
« on: April 25, 2017, 08:45:52 AM »
First of all, hi! It's quite some time i wanted to buy starsector and i finally did it.

The curve at start is a bit steep, lot of mechanics to learn (which mean there is a lot to do  ;D) so i was reading faqs, manual some thread etc...

Can anybody point me to some significant thread? I did the tutorial but i still suck in combat, giving combat orders, refitting ships etc...

Any help would be appreciated

See you in the cosmos.
