When you look at the ability - (high energy focus), which promotes use of energy weapons, but then has energy bolt coherer, which increases base range of non energy and hybrind weps.

Am i missing something here or is this countering itself ???

Any hints on what will be in Order tab???

I learned how to deal with CC so it doesent bother me that much. But TBH i would really like to see months / years pause before certain faction has a PROBLEM with everything that you do.

It seems to me quite dumb that at EXACTLY same moment you created a colony or a industry, CC starts.

add some time in between action and reaction PLEASE !

SO sacrifices range, and thus causes your lowtech ships to start tripping over one another, and to take massive damage at the moment of every kill.

It also sacrifices PPT, which means you can't hold your shield shunt ships back for the perfect moment.

While I'm sure you can make SO and SS work together. Shield shunt is better used as an alternative strategy.

Wouldn't a Dominator be soloing or duoing something right?   I can't imagine it's going to be 3 on 1 till near the end of a fight.

I fouid that SS only works on capitals.

I have tried it on Dominator and Eradicator, but they both got outranged and slowly destroyed by an enemy capital ships.

Here is my curent "THE BEST" build for Onslaught.

Edit: yea im thinking about building in other hullmods... etc and probably swapping out Jackhammers with Reapers. more DPS

And maybe stick to the topic?

I still didnt hear a sound reason on why would you build in the SS instead of just having it as a hullmod for 10 OP and build in something els.

Do you consider it to be worth it, Alex?

10
Giving few months or years before the colony crises starts would be in order imo.

11
its not all about 20 OP, its about other BUILD IN  effects that could give you more bulk, if the point of using SS is being bulky. And you get only 2 (3 if talent point )

Is 262 armor better then 8000 Hull ( if you got for build in RB ) ?

12
S-modding ITU gives no bonus effect and saves 25 OP. S-modding Shield Shunt gives +15% armor and saves 10 OP.

Is +15% armor worth 15 OP on an Onslaught with 370 OP?

My point exactly.

SS costs only 10 OP and for that i get SS effect and 15% armor.

And if the overall direction is to have a beafy ship with SS, wouldnt it be more reasonable to build in Reinforced bulkheads and recieve 40% more hull? Which works well with Combat endurance and Damage Control.

13
Maybe i didnt said it clear enough so i will say it again.

BUILD IN SS gives you 15% more armor
Having SS as a normal hullmod ( not build in ) Gives you 15% armor and Shunt effect.

I am puting 15% additional armor against a different hullmod that can be Build In.
For me that additional 15% armor just seems too weak to be traded off by another build in mod.

General Discussion / How do you justify build in Shield Shunt stats?
« on: June 06, 2024, 06:52:37 AM »
Hello.

Shield shunt drama continues...

SS hullmod removes shield and gives you 15% armor.
If you build it in, if adds only 15% additional armor.
Since you can only have 2 build in hullsmods in each ship (3 if you are specced ), would 15% additional armor justify ONE build in?

It feels to me SS build in option lacks a bit, comparing some other build ins.

I found it to be worth it on Onslaught IVX version with aggresive officer and some essential skills combined with hullmods.

Every other ship that isnt a capital ship, will get outranged and destroyed by enemys capital ship. I have tried it on Dominator and on Eradicator with Accelerated Ammo Feeder.

That being said, range is a must for Shield Shunt ship.
