Honestly ya, pirate system bounties can get you from 0 to max in no time if they are in a big raid. The rep system is so fast and totally without meaning.
At least it makes Indies going hostile from a sat bomb aimed at a non-Indie planet more tolerable, since a good sweep of a system bounty fixes the dumb insta-hostile, even if it is a grind.

Indies should not get mad over a sat bomb unless it is aimed at them.  Currently, it makes them look like monolithic puppets who are too dumb to stay out of a conflict between major powers.  (Once Indies get mad over a sat bomb, I consider them to have sided with my enemy, and they get targeted for destruction too - stay out of my way!)

The idea is that sat bombing makes you worse than Hitler and everybody wants you dead. Feels a bit silly to me since a few raids will flatten a colony with a little delay and no universal hate but then again sat bombing is pretty cheap.

I actually prefer Hammers to Reapers and Atroposes. Reapers only have one shot and are unreliable, while Atropos are expensive and don't hit that hard.
I like Reaper pods in the medium mounts on an Onslaught, gives you some serious burst potential with a good amount of spare ammo.

i like that ITU is just an upgrade to DTC that is locked behind skills.

It drops as a hullmod spec too, it's not locked to skills.

Indeed, there is no other hullmod that becomes obsolete by another, but no other hullmod is so critical to cruisers or capitals functioning at all (outside of SO builds), either.

Yeah, so having DTC and ITU be more of a sidegrade to each other would make outfitting a cruiser or capital not such a no-brainer.

I like the idea of the [REDACTED]'s retaliating somehow, but them showing up out of nowhere with an obnoxious curb stomp fleet with no warning is too punitive to be fun. Perhaps instead of waiting around in their systems they start patrolling places where you've been, eventually maybe finding your colonies and starting to raid them. The notion of a horror stalking you deep in the vast emptiness of space because you've seen something you shouldn't fits the setting perfectly.
I dunno, the regular colony items don't seem like something the REDACTED would care about. Anything you get from the Doritos, sure but most of the colony items were made by random companies and have no use to the REDACTED. Maybe there could be a more advanced tier of items that would actually get that kind of attention but the current ones already give you enough problems with the +4 Pather interest and the increased production often attracting expeditions over marketshare.

Honestly I'd like DTC to get some advantages over ITU so it's not a dead mod the moment you get ITU. I don't think there are any other hull mods that get obsoleted by another doing the same thing but better.

I feel like it would make more sense if the rep penalty was not associated with the expedition losing/winning and just got applied at the beginning no matter what, or maybe you get an option to give x% of your income from the industry for a year to avoid the expedition entirely.

It seems like the faction should be mad at you for cutting into their profits, not mad at you for defending yourself after they try to kill you for cutting into their profits.

You can avert the expedition, I don't remember what the cost is since I haven't done that to anything except AI Inspections for a long time. The rep penalty is just a maintenance cost for your colonies, can't make free money forever without occasionally doing something for those other factions but having that doubled up with the damage the expedition does would be too much.

What bugs me more is that the factions can apparently attempt a saturation bombardment over market shares despite friendly relationships. Why can't I declare my saturation bombardment an expedition and take no rep penalty?

Also you get the rep penalty even if it wasn't your faction that murders the expedition, I believe.

Some tasks just require you to have a stock of heavy machinery, dunno why since that's not difficult to get past the first hour or so and doesn't take up that much space in anything except a pure frigate fleet with no freighters but it means you can't just sell your whole stack of HM, you gotta split it and keep some.

Personally I carry 200 units with me at all times but I forgot how I arrived at that number. Could probably drop that to 100 or so?

Nope, it wants the full ones. You should find some with a ship on them out there.

It does nothing on its own, you have to find certain items to use with it. They're fairly obvious if you find any.

I'm pretty sure radiation absorbers are from your mod right? How come I can't build it on an irradiated planet?

The full un-field-repairable set of d-mods on every Exodus ship you find through exploration feels really excessive, it's not so much of an issue for exploration-only ships but when they're ships that the Society still uses? Makes recovering them almost worthless since they cost so much more to repair than to buy new (or smash some Society fleets for drops). The story justification is fine for an occasional ship but you'd think that the modern Society would lose ships out there too so the majority of what you find should be newer vintage.

The newer vintage ships are handled the same way all derelict ships are handled, check areas where the society does battle.

The ones you find out in space are just teasers and lore hints, they aren't really meant to be useful, and they are anything but new.

Yeah but I get the sense that a lot of the pre-placed ships in the outer sector are meant to be remains of explorers and scavengers of more recent vintage (or ships lost in hyperspace battles that settled into those places), not just ancient ships so there should be some nearly functional ones out there. You certainly find so many Society ships out there that having them all be junk is pretty annoying. I can get the lore if I find 2-3 ships like that, not dozens.
