That's a bummer. Truth be told, I was kinda hoping for grand battleship battles at the end game.

You can always just uncap the fleet limit and do whatever you want, don't forget. The devs made this game easy to tinker intentionally. I haven't played vanilla since my first month with it. You better have those supplies tho because 30 paragons aint cheap xd

What are DP used for past the deployment phase? Does it allow you to bring in more reserves?
Yup, if you want to keep playing vanilla its really important later on to make sure you don't get overwhelmed. You can press tab and then "G" at anytime to bring in reserves if you have the DP and supplies.
What about the 'corrupted nanoforge' then? I've only managed to find one of those. Also, if not augment into colonies how to use the nanoforge, do I just sell them for credits then?

I'm also curious about how to build your own ships besides using a colony.
I personally dont build a colony until I have a pristine nanoforge, but I've heard of people using them. I wouldn't recommend it though, colonies take forever to setup and you don't generally build heavy industries until your second one. I'd like to make sure I get the most out of my investment. If you decide not to use it you can sell it, I like to hoard them like a dragon because thats how I am.

As for building ships without colonies, you don't. If you're looking for specific ships I'd recommend the hypernet mod. It says it hasn't been updated but if you check the last page of the thread they'll tell you how to get it working easily.

oh and story points are pretty much just for building in hullmods. If you have cruisers just build in hardened shields and the integrated targeting unit. Dont even think its just a nobrainer, like 30+ extra OP for your ships. If you have 30 story points saved up you're basically just gimping your fleet at his point.

Here's some tips active posters in this forum that have played the game for years dont do

-Dont stack capitals, 2-3 max. The newest update made it extremely inefficient and its a huge noob trap. lrn2play and take the frigate pill

-Those objective points in combat will give you DP if you capture them. Always have fast frigates in your fleet that you deploy asap to cap them so you can use as much of your fleet as possible in tough fights

-Use ur fkin story points. You can hoard them if you want but you really should use them, you get them back and then some just for using them and built in hullmods are OP. Just use them, put em on frigate who cares just use them. You only need to hold on to like 2-3 to get away from patrols and hostile fleets.

-If you have a nanoforge don't put it on habitable planets, it'll pollute them

-Make sure your fleet is ironclad when you start your colony, if it isn't you're gonna have a real bad time.

-If you get your reputation to inhospitable with the pirates you will have a much easier time with your colony

-try to start your first colony in a system with other good worlds. Defending your stuff is way harder when its spread out across multiple systems

are you guys still hauling around 30 paragons or something?

My fleet can do deep surveying runs with like 1.5k supplies and still face off against most of the stuff I see. I'm not farming red warning beacons or anything but I can do pretty much everything the game offers pretty easily
