General Discussion / Re: Anyone playing the game on M1 mac?

Playing on M1 Macbook Pro. I did nothing fancy. Just started the game and it worked.

I have a Paragon with 4 HIL, Graviton Beams and Tac Lasers in the small slots. It seems to do alright. In the past I often went for Autopulse, but I've found that the higher average dmg of HIL seems to win out for me. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong though. There are definitely multiple viable playstyles available in this game.

General Discussion / Re: Recommendations for fighting against Ordos?

Just get an Aurora (better multiple) with Safety Overrides, 2 Antimatter blasters (don't use all 4 slots) 2-3 Ion Pulsers in the Front Medium mounts and Burst PD in the small energy mounts. Get a Front Shield Generator for 360° shield that's also less flux.

Three of them kill pretty much all smaller remnant fleets. If they have something bigger I also deploy an Astral with Bombers + Paragon (kitted with mostly beams, but not sure if that's optimal, i like it).

I also fly the Aurora, because it's basically as fast as a frigate and can be where it's needed quickly.

General Discussion / Re: Colony Expeditions are Unfair and Unfun

It will say what the reason is in the expedition fleet's tooltip. Mine was because of fuel production (I found a Synchrotron early). I only turned the freeport on after I felt that I could deal with increased number of fleets. Generally I agree that the worst thing about expedition fleets right now is that they attack you even when 100/100 commissioned and that you lose rep when you defend in person.

Has Alex ever mentioned the reason why he got rid of the old system on the Odyssey. I can see why he got rid of the overlap and it never felt correct, but the ship system felt good. In my current run, the only capital blueprint I got is the Odyssey (lucky me, tbh) and running a fleet with four of them, they keep ramming things and generally the AI just does not know how to deal with the asymmetrical design. That said, it works surprisingly well as the mainstay of a fleet.

On the mention of changed ship systems... While the Apogee with the new Plasma Cannon is really nice, the ship system is really lackluster. I also couldn't think of a more boring one. I hope this isn't the last ship system change we've seen on the Apogee.

I bribed the first three or four expedition fleets (either rep or money). The next run I helped defend with my fleet and after that my colony has been taking care of itself using the lvl 1 hightech station and a mostly carrierbased loadout in fleet doctrine (basically a bunch of herons and shepherds). Probably having two (now three) planets colonized in a system is beneficial, even though the lowest one was 150% Hazard. I think the expedition fleets are generally alright, but I agree that a smoother start up would help. I've been playing this game since the first patch that released the campaign mode and this update has felt a lot more difficult, because ship and especially weapon availability is really tough.

General Discussion / Re: Where can i buy Odyssey?
« on: November 21, 2018, 11:51:59 PM »
I found a single Medusa in one of my games. Only to find out that there weren't any decent weapons to fit... I found an Odyssey Blueprint in my current game (lucky me!) and I'm currently in the process of building one. Curious how that comes out. One other game I found a High Tech blueprint pack, but the everything else in that game was a total mess so I abandoned it.

Generally I agree that High-Tech is now very hard to come by until you get blueprints and build them yourself, but I think that is by design. At least it forces me to play some other ships for a change.

That's fantastic, I feel like there has been a lot of progress this month.

0.9 before the summer?
 ???

Yes, I've enjoyed the recent influx of activity. Also, a lot of those things sound like refinement of aspects that are mostly done (like this one). I think we are getting closer, although I may, of course, be entirely wrong.

Alex is a god for giving trusted modders early access so that we can get their mods earlier.

This is why I still think that an SO medusa is one of the best player ships until you fight large fleets where frigates just die. It is fast enough to hunt down wolves, tempests or anything else. Only problem can be phase frigates. Really need a set of wasps/talons against them.

Bug Reports & Support / Iron Man Escape
« on: May 09, 2017, 12:58:23 AM »
Recently I made the mistake of jumping into a tripple red ping system having never encountered anything that dangerous in my last playthrough. I was immediately swarmed by Remnants. I got so annoyed I left midbattle. When I reloaded the next day I was expecting to just see me in a kite or whatever the restart ship is, but I still had my whole fleet. Because I left in battle it quit the game without saving, which meant that it rolled back the whole session.

Not sure if this is intended, or hard to work around, but it makes it possible to cheat around the iron man mode.

Modding / Re: Mod Request: Skip Domain Drone Battles
« on: May 05, 2017, 04:56:00 AM »
Shame. I would have thought that considering you can skip overwhelming odds battles elsewhere in the game it would be a simple toggle somewhere that had to be turned off. Obviously, I have no idea about these kind of things.

I guess I will keep a nice SO Medusa in my fleet to deal with these things.

Anyone out there? Is it impossible to do? Am I the only one who wants to skip these battles?

General Discussion / Re: The end goal
« on: May 03, 2017, 10:12:59 AM »
I was under the impression that we will get something of a story line, similar to what we just got as the tutorial with scripted fights (probably some insanely difficult ones) and everything. I was also under the impression that that story line is reserved until all the actual game mechanics are implemented, i.e. for version 1.0. I may of course be wrong.

Modding / Mod Request: Skip Domain Drone Battles
« on: May 03, 2017, 12:01:54 AM »
Hi modders,

I am not quite sure if it is possible, but I guess it should be. After having a well established fleet (or even a SO Medusa) fighting against Domain Drones that guard probes/survey ships gets old really quickly, but for some reason Alex disabled automatic resolve on those fights. Can someone with more coding prowess than me create a mod that lets you skip those battles?

Thanks!
