so here are a few pics of my fleet. it requires 5 screen shots to show all of the ships and i have made it large enough to start slowing the game. LOL
i dont want to use the image tags as the picture size is rather large so im just going to post the links to them. so it wont lag people out.

I'd show you my fleets, except I try to keep all my cargo, fleet, hanger usage, etc. all within the designated limits :P So my fleets are not quite so... capital ship filled lol.

Where did you get all of those (particularly the fighters) from? With the massively low chances of actually capturing enemy ships and the low stocks of those ships at the outpost, I don't see any way to get that many without insane luck.

all but 2 of those fighters i have captured. the other fighters i bought.. blew up.. i believe fighters have a higher chance to be able to board then the other ships. at least that is how it seems for me. been fighting a lot of pirates in the start then moved up to the tri people.

When he adds penalties that fleets going to be hurting. How fast does it go on the campaign map?

58 near gravity 110 away. slowest ship is 110.

I think thats the minimum speed, since I hit that speed, and my fleet is not even one-page large

if i sell every ship i have except 1 paragon battleship which was the slowest ship in my fleet at 110. then my speed near planets is 105 and in deep space it was 210.
which still seems a little off.

Indeed. Hence why I think that fleet speed should be limited specifically to the slowest ship, but fleet maneuverability (rotation, etc) can be limited increasingly by number of ships within 5-10% of the slowest speed ship in the fleet

For general info, having 10000 paragons with cost set to 0 flt pts
will lead to the crashing and burning/exploding of your ram
that is all

Arwan - what are the specs on your computer btw?

nothing really new. intel dual core 2133MHz 4 gigs ram vista geforce gts 250 the comp is like 4 years old i think.... not really sure anymore.. upgrading very soon... actually have everything i need but the new operating system.. going to be a intel quad core 2600 (3.4 GHz.) 8 gig ram windows 7 same graphics card.

ah ok.
Anyways, I got another paragon, but I had to actually fight for it against a large tri-tach fleet :P (lost 3 frigates, and 80 crewmen (over 4 frigates; one frigate survived with 0% hull and 1 crewman XD - interestingly, it was my starting lasher) and 101 marines. All other ships sustained only nominal damage).

Is the reason why we often find larger ships boardable after action due to the fact that they have a lot of health and the finishing shots fired after the ship blew up doesn't count as much to the limit of when the ship could be salvaged?
Fighters too. I guess they're far to small to be hit again once they explode and the big ships just have enough hull strength to maintain the status of being boardable even if they take some more fire.

i cant speak to what the algorithm is exactly but in my combat experience. of which some of it was auto combat see results load game repeat many many times over with same fleet. i noticed that with auto combat it was very rare to get any ships that would allow me to board them after combat and indeed it was more likely that fighters and quick ships would evade my mass armada altogether... dang blockade runners.. ill get you Han solos of the universe. but if i did manual combat i found it (at least seemingly) more common to find ships afterward that would be up for boarding. also in my game at least the pattern seems to be that if a ship does not enter combat on the opposing side and i win said combat then they surrender in the after combat window and i can board them with no fight and get there ship.

I would love to pit my full force against OP's and see how i go. Could 5 paragons survive the missiles of 11 Onslaughts?

Ah.
Well, sir, I'll be changing the code so that you don't get any "surrenders" when the winning fleet is ridiculously smaller than the retreated one.
As to why they retreated - they actually figure out that you're being cheesy and kiting them, and want no part of it :)
and not sure but maybe this is why it didn't surrender. not because its ridiculously smaller but because it just is a little smaller.

He hasn't released a hotfix so that change won't have taken effect yet, so that isn't the answer. Also my fleet was almost as big.

your 3 largest ships were cruisers the tri fleets 3 largest ships were all capital class
though that being said awesome job forcing a retreat like that 8)

the bars on the bottom are casualty reports.. he has 96 marines.. and i had 1025 i believe. though you can lose over 200 marines capturing a capital ship.

I figured out why they do not always surrender: its because the enemy fleet has to be 'escaping' not 'defending'.

that makes sense... they just always ran from me... guess my planet sized armada made them wet themselves every time.

Thank you! Forever now I was wondering why they "randomly" surrender or retreated. Also I seem to have a problem... there are no more large Tri-Techyon fleets left, is it possible to kill them off?

dont believe so i beat them up quite a lot if you give them some time they come back.

Yeah, they will come back, but the interval for large fleet spawns is sort of random. The largest hegemony fleets also tend to trim them down significantly.

Ah, yes, they did come back, just took quite a while, got two Astral carriers though ;D
Edit: Just a quick mention, Thunder Multi-role wings are the greatest thing ever (PERIOD) :)
