Title: Leadership Skill - Wolfpack (Fighters)

Since the skills are lacking anything that is specific to fighters, I was curious about this.


As of right now, fighters do get the benefits from the Tech tree (the increased armour and hull), but they are sorely missing out on the bonuses from the +Ordinance Point skills, making them sub-par compared to Frigates in heavy tech builds. As well, the skills in leadership feel sort of bland right now, so something like this would help spice it up a little.

At the same time, I want to avoid having fleets consisting of a billion little Talons (a 50% reduction in FP is terrifying), so the idea would be to let you actually field your fleet more easily in combat, without explicitly letting you carry hundreds of fighters in your fleet.

Nice skill and I like it but I would rather choose an other name than Wolfpack.
Not sure which one though. :D

Accurate, and a nice homage to a franchise that's in the spotlight atm.

Actually i like both the original "Wolfpack" (maybe Leader of the pack?) and Wing Commander

Isn't 'wolf pack' more fitting for a boon that effects phase ships? Aka submarines / uboats.

That would come closer to the origin of the meaning of "Wolf pack" as a naval tactic. Very fitting. +1

+1 and I like "Wolf pack"

Could be put into the leadership tree which lacks good "passives" ( better maintenance-crew on decks )

I believe that bonuses for Fighters should be separated as such.


Trained Maneuverability (Leadership):  Fighters gain +2% speed, Acceleration and maneuverability per level.
Level 5:  Fighters can spread further apart to dodge incoming fire and more actively avoid projectiles.
Level 10:  Fighters cannot have their engines disabled.


Kamikaze (Leadership):  Bombers move and accelerate 2% faster and have 33% damage reduction while carrying out a bombing run.
Level 5:  Missile weapons and Bomb Bays fire 25% faster and have 50% more health.
Level 10:  Bombers that are killed leave a hulk that deals x5 damage to enemies that run into it.


Micro-Targeting Computer (Technology):  Fighters gain +5% damage to armor, +2% damage per level.
Level 5:  Fighters gain a 35% range bonus on weapons.
Level 10:  Bombs and Torpedoes fired from fighters move 33% faster.


Micro-Preservation Systems (Technology):  Fighters gain +2.5% armor and hull.
Level 5:  Every time a fighter is lost from a squadron the remaining squadron gets a small amount of damage reduction (Inversed, larger squadrons don't get a higher bonus than lower ones, they just get bonuses more readily).
Level 10:  Fighters slowly repair themselves at the rate of 1% per second of both armor and health to 100%.

I love all these.  I love running around with massive numbers of fighters so I can run strikes and stuff.  I'm really waiting for the Titans mod to see if it will let me field large fleets with massive numbers of fighters, just for kicks.

I like all these skills, but I don't really like how they are specialized for just fighters. The other skills in the game might be better for certain ships than for others, but they are always beneficial. I feel like these skills should be a loooot more powerful considering they just deal with fighters.

Its to make up for talents that increase the OP on all of the ships on your fleet, from which fighters do not benefit. Same goes for the increased caps and vents skills. That, and the bonus for health and armour is almost negligible on most fighters. At best, its 150 hull, maybe 20 or 30 armour; it won't increase the protection against anything other than PD stuff.

Personally I'd just have the +OP skills give those flat stat buffs to fighters in addition to their current effects.
Although then we wouldn't have those cool fighter perks...
