Title: Updating My Game?
Post by: Smallfishy on January 15, 2012, 01:10:06 PM
I was just wondering when and how the new features will be implimented? I've done some reading on the blog as well as the fourms and I keep seeing all these new and wonderful updates. I was just unsure if the game client will update on its own or would be have to redownload the new client? Any help would be much appreciated.

For those who want to know, I'm one of the new guys who were introduced to the game by Totalbiscuit and so far I am loving it. I'm am very new to the game and was hoping some of you veterans could guide me in the right direction. Thank you

Welcome to the wonderful world of Starfarer!  :D

Speaking for how it has worked before, it has been a new download every new version, and then a new install.

Registration information etc. is saved, so you don't have to worry about putting your key in etc. for a new install, and I think mods are saved as they were previously, so presuming the new version doesn't break mod compatibility you should be good for all that as well.

At least, that is as I recall it. Alex may have some other plans for the future, but I think he's been more concerned about getting the game coded, for the near future at least.

Hi there, Smallfishy :) I'm no veteran by any means, but if you'd like some tips, feel free to ask. I consider myself a "seasoned" player (not really all that seasoned :D) after finally beating Predator or Prey? on 100% (which, trust me, took a LOT) :D Generally if you hadn't done so yet before you posted here, I would advise you to read the manual (found in sticky on this very forum) as it really gives the basic and most neccesary knowledge for you to start playing somewhat consistently and reliably. Other than that, it's just training and playing with the game :)
