Can I add images to my planets? |
Yup, that's what this mod is for. |
Can I change the images on NPC planets? |
Yes - either change the setting in Illustrated.Entities/data/config/settings.json, or just enable devmode (remember to turn it off afterwards!). |
Does it add images to my existing colonies? |
Yes, on game start. If a colony doesn't have an image, just save and reload, if it still doesn't have one, report it here. |
It doesn't apply images to modded colonies, why?!? |
Mod authors have their own vision of a planet, and my algorithm is not infallible (it tries, but it's probably a gamma core. Don't discriminate.). Feel free to enable the setting to apply random images, but don't be disappointed if the results don't match up. |
Can I add my own images? |
Sure! It's probably easiest to just replace an existing one, but if you want to make the effort, just add the image in the correct 480x300px, RGB-8, .png format in the mod folder, and add the line in image_data.csv. Add at least one "required" tag so the image shows up, and presto! |
The images you picked for vanilla suck! |
You can always switch that image by editing image_data.csv, it's easy! I'm also always open to suggestions - just post the planet and the image number here, and I'll give it a look. |
How many images did you sort through? |
Around 6500. |
Those tags are weird. |
You are weird. |
Did you really spend two months of your free time doing this? |
Look, man. You spend your time playing League of Legends, I spend mine sperging over .csv files. We are probably on the same autism level. |
Are you okay? |
I dream of Midjourney, and the machine mind probably dreams of me. At least I hope it does, since my eyes ran away. Not that they ever existed, except for that time they did. Ask Tim for his shizo meds he forgot to take them again and might sell them to you. |

BTW, where did you get the sample for the AI to study? There have lately been a few scandals with AI art, and wanted to make sure everything was a-ok.
.....Could you do this to bars?If I wanted to spend two months doing it, yeah, I could - but I probably won't cause I am burned out on looking at pictures :P
Amazing!Midjourney. Not me, I'm just the prompt monkey~

Also, is it retroactive, and can I pick them for markets already generated?
Edit: Oops, sorry, missed the expalanation.
What scandal are you talking about exactly?Probably some people not understanding how AI image generation works. There's this persistent rumor that it's just image kitbashing, which is plain wrong - you can read up on it here:
could you allow us to translate to the chinese forum? https://www.fossic.org/Yeah, I approve the translation.

Fair enough, but I was mostly talking about stuff like the Deviantart AI art scandal, where the users' art was used unless they explicitly opted out for each piece (and for a while the opt out was broken). Not saying SirHartley would jut datamine the forums for planet art, of course, but was kinda curious about the "inspirations" and wanted to make sure it did not end up with the angry mob TASC did a while back. That's exactly what I was afraid of hearing from him. I can't stand hearing this kind of b on social networks anymore:/
People won't even make the effort to educate themselves about this technology.
The real issue might be deepfakes or emulating a professional artist that is still alive and attempting to make money from it.
But that's a completely different situation here.
Anyway, thanks for your work, and sorry for hijacking your thread :)
550 images must have taken you hours and still represents a lot of effort. Great work!
PS: And I even want to add that you are using AI in the best way possible. Visual consistency, thematic cohesion, quality/quantity balance.
Added the mod to a new save, but after several reloads,my colonies don´t get a new image nor the option to change it.yup yup looks like a bug. Thank you!
Vanilla planets did get a new background.

How much additional rendering time you pay for, or was it all relaxed mode? Any V4s in here?Total around 100€ for a 3-month subscription, mostly used relaxed (when fast ran out lol), ran up close to 200 hours. No V4s, the generation part was done before V3 released and I spent the remainder of the time doing the sorting, cleaning and tags.
Loving the mod so far! I can finally make it so my terraformed worlds don't keep default portraits Neither restored mairaath nor ocean ithaca should look like barren deserts, and this mod offers a solution.oh, what was missing? It should have images for all vanilla planets. If you want to enable in-game changing temporarily, opening the console and typing "devmode" enables the change overlay.
I did have a few issues with changing a few images, (namely Boe's Refuge, Hesperus and Kapteyn Starworks), but having it so I could change the look of other factions and transfering it to the indies temporarily solved it.
It also had a few images missing, but that could be from it being added midgame. Once again, EXTREMELY minor.
Nice. :DMy sanity has suffered a tad of a hit.

Woah
Added the mod to a new save, but after several reloads,my colonies don´t get a new image nor the option to change it.Seems to be the same bug I had (had a few vanilla markets get broken images, and could not change the image in a few conquered markets.)

VRAM-Impact can be high - the mod only loads images in systems you visit, but cannot un-load them, so VRAM use can be up to 250mb depending on your actions.
If you are playing on a system with a weak graphics card (< 2gb VRAM), consider not using this mod.

DUDE, update download link for the new version please ;)I accidentally pushed the new version file to the repo, new version is coming in the evening - very sorry!

You'd miss out on the cool new pictures for vanilla planets, though :P
Thanks for the release! Editing descriptions & images always adds more flavor to campaigns :) I played around with it a bit this morning and have a few minor issues to report. You get the award for absolute best bug report of the year. Thank you, I'll go over all of those and check back with you once I know more.

An absolutely superb mod that finally lets me colonize Penelope's Star to my heart's content without being annoyed by the planet descriptions being off. Well done!Which planet? is it an orbital station, by chance?

An absolutely superb mod that finally lets me colonize Penelope's Star to my heart's content without being annoyed by the planet descriptions being off. Well done!
So far I have encountered only a single issue: the image I picked for one of my planets keeps getting reset. Just the one planet though. I think it's because the mod wants to prioritize using one of the pictures for a "mining" tagged world when I'm trying to get it to prioritize the fact that it's a lava world, but I'm not 100% sure what is causing the issue. I have manually set the picture a few times, only for it to swap to something else when I come back later or load my save.
Thank you for the mod.Got the same issue, has anyone found any workarounds to this? Like, maybe removing the image from the colony before abandoning it or something similar?
I've found a bug. Trying to abandon any colony crashes the game. Not sure if this was always the case during my campaign, but I noticed it after conquering a station from another faction and trying to abandon it (I'm using Nexerelin).

I also noticed that I couldn't change the picture/description of the conquered station at all. Tried to save, reload etc.. I even enabled the option to change NPC's colonies pictures but they won't show up.
Is there a way to make it work for conquered markets?
The menu does not appear for markets conquered via nexerelin, even with the npc market edit option and devmode.

thank you so much! I wanted to use it, but didn't want to overwrite new illustrations. now I can use it and the AI stuff is really neat. it can add a lot in areas where it'd simply be unfeasible for small games/small teams or mods to have added visuals and such.(https://i.imgur.com/xwYFklf.png)

crashy crashman, I have absolutely no idea how that would even happen. Try redownloading the mod?
Don't think so. Started this run last weekend so it was July already. Both that time and now I downloaded from the link on the main page, so unless you changed the download link during the last week, both should be the same.
I never downloaded the one in this page, however.
Also I'm pretty sure my game crashed several times with this error, it just now reached a point where it happens the same in-game day.
You might be in the wrong thread ;)

It's probably easiest to just replace an existing one, but if you want to make the effort, just add the image in the correct 480x300px, RGB-8, .png format in the mod folder, and add the line in image_data.csv. Is there a way to make it work for conquered markets?
The menu does not appear for markets conquered via nexerelin, even with the npc market edit option and devmode.
I ran into the same issue even with the NPC market option turned to true and devmode on. Seems to be an issue with conquered markets as you have pointed out. So for the heck of it, I changed ownership of market using console commands. Obviously with the market back to NPC control, I could edit the description and image with NPC Market Edit option on. However after reverting ownership back to myself, only the 1st description (description shown when mousing over colony in-flight) and image stayed. For some reason the docking (2nd) description did not show up.
Hopefully this functionality will be updated soon, additionally maybe add a way to change the description when you select manage colony of conquered markets? e.g. one of my markets was conquered from pirates, so there's a description describing the pirate colony in the left text box when you select manage colony [idk if there's a term for this]
