Nes's SAW
Ships with cosmetic Skins. Splendid!
1.10SSS

Adds a handful of lovingly crafted ships, a weapon, as well as few portraits.

Nes's SAW can be safely added to an existing save.
To install, simply download the .zip file from the link above, unzip it in your Starsector mods directory, and enable it in the launcher.

Large Ballistic
A rotary Mjolnir configuration that puts less strain on the flux grid but loses efficiency against faster targets.

Hellbore alternative look

Essentially a visual update for the vanilla hellbore.
If you prefer vanilla looks simply remove hellbore_ sprites located in graphics/weapons from the mod folder.

Cosmetic Skins:
Change ship appearance in-game choosing from a variety of unique liveries.

How to: in the refit screen, click to remove the respective hullmod to cycle through available options.
Note that being docked might be necessary for the spacer work crews to repaint your craft.

Ok... Probably for the best. It was a little too powerful in retrospect, especially with the EMP.

Also, as a side note, I love the Hammerfall to bits. It's a salvage gantry that's actually useful in combat, and does mining.
Does it's laser's slowing effect slow it or the target hit? I ask because I've seen weapons do both.

No, the hellbore.weapon file will be indexing the deleted/wrongnamed sprites if you did it that way. If he also deleted SAW's weapon folder, that might work.

There is no .weapon file in this case since it is not a separate weapon. It functions the same way skin packs do, removing relevant sprites will be sufficient.

ah, perfect. I would suggest making that a little note on the main mod-page, as i'm sure its something that would deter some people, as i know i kind of ingored this mod at first because of it... but the portraits were just too good to give up XD

Yeah, sure. Be aware that translation would require editing and recompiling source code as, unfortunately, strings for hullmods and shipsystems are not externalized, if you know how to handle that you are welcome to do so.

edit: as of 1.9e strings are externalized to data/strings/strings.json and recompiling the jar is no longer necessary.

Ah, okay. Regardles, a good rule of thumb for every mod this one included, is deleting the old mod folder before installing an update.
What usually happens is some old/deprecated files getting left in, the game dutifully attempts to load something that does not work/exist/shouldnt be there and then promptly explodes ::)

In this particular case you most likely have a leftover .variant files for the Beacon, which is no longer part of the mod, in the Nes's SAW\data\varians folder.

Beacon was essentially reworked and replaced by the Fluorspar, there are no plans for bringing it back.

I absolutely love these ships, especially the Voltaire and Deimos. These two have been the backbone of my fleet so far in my current playthrough and they're great. The former is definitely comparable to a Zenith from SWP but maybe slightly stronger.

a great little ship pack; i love the focus on quality over quantity. haven't had the chance to play with the lowtech ships yet but i've been liking the voltaire, carnelian, and fluorspar quite a lot (mostly the fluorspar). in particular i'm a big fan of the alternate color options on the fluorspar -- i've been brainstorming ideas for a "paintjob" mod for a while now using the same decal system as d-mods, but doing it as a swappable hullmod is a much simpler solution, tbh.

speaking of fluorspar, below are a few builds i found effective, for whoever wants them. build 1 is a player fit with modded weapons and hullmods, build 2 is a vanilla player fit, and build 3 is an ai-friendly vanilla fit.

build 1: to no-one's surprise, PD assault conversion is a goddamn house on this thing. the Magellan heavy flenser puts out great HE damage even when it isn't crit-boosted by the shipsystem, and all of the weapons reach at least 600 range with the elite PD skill. converted hangar is very nice since you have next to no slots available for acutal PD. the fluorspar's sole weakness (in my opinion) is that it's vulnerable to fighter swarms when cut off from the rest of the fleet -- which should be all of the time, you want to be flanking and ganking as much as possible in this ship. interceptor choice is up to you: i prefer DME dards for cheapness and their EMP missiles, but wasps are perfectly fine too.

build 2: more flux-intensive than the previous build, but the DPS is decent and the fluorspar's sheer speed and native bonus to active vent rate should allow a decent player to do very well with it. heavy needler works instead of the ion pulser, but i prefer pulser as it allows you to score easier mobility kills and disable threatening weapons when you're soloing capitals.

build 3: an ai-friendly version of the vanilla fit. flux-neutral at the cost of anti-armor DPS, though the single AMB should make up for it and also gives the ship a quasi-torpedo strike option. pair with an aggressive or reckless officer. systems expertise, ordnance expertise, and gunnery implants are the bare-minimum skills to really make the build shine. elite helmsmanship is solid for the +55 speed bonus while not generating flux, and targeting analysis is never a bad pick either.

Not a bug. HexShields works on a whitelist basis, meaning any custom hullstyles must be added to the list first, so lets do that :)

Redownload the mod or grab this hex_whitelist.csv (https://www.dropbox.com/s/p4ox3v7n80ukb8b/hex_whitelist.csv?dl=1) and place it inside the Nes's SAW/data/config folder.

just tried out the mod today
the Fluorspar is a really fun ship and I love its appearance and performance
it'd fit right into a Kingdom of Terra fleet (if that mod ever gets updated for 0.96 properly, instead of just using the mod_info.json game version changing trick) with its aggressive playstyle, geological design, and a system that's good for ramming (if you ignore the lacking armor/hull defenses). it even makes perfect sense lore-wise - a ship made of crystals with timeflow-altering properties would be very fitting for a faction with a homeworld that has an extremely vast underground with varying levels of time dilation.

anyways I can't wait to see what else gets added to this mod in the future

Thanks for the reply. I will do some theroy crafting with the Volt. I hope you can find a niche for it in the future (I used it as a PD ship focused on the small mounts with some lasers from tahlan shipworks) but what I love about your mod the absence of ship bloat, thanks for your work. Cheers

Ships can be found within various faction fleets and markets, their distribution and rarity being such as to appear seamlessly integrated alongside the base game content. :)

If you updates NES you may have overwritten instead of delete and replace. Try redownloading, deleting the old instance, and putting in the new instance.
If this is your first time installing NES... Its something completely different but i would still suggest redownloading and installing the mod.

I got a question regarding the "livery system", I was looking through your code and in it you use a deco weapon with the id "NES_DECO_COUNTER". What does that do exactly, why did you do it that way and how is it used? Cause I want to make a livery system for my WIP mod as well and since your mod has that feature I thought of looking into your code but stumbled across this.

Ah, from memory, it is mainly used for keeping livery hullmod selection properly ordered

That said, i am happy to see more people showing interest in exploring the more aesthetic side of shipmaking :)
