Title: How do you deal with bright backgrounds?
Post by: wilki24 on August 24, 2021, 05:43:07 PM
Take a look at this battle I'm in right now: https://i.imgur.com/iwVI0BE.png (https://i.imgur.com/iwVI0BE.png)

I have a slow turreted weapon on my ship, but I can just barely make out where it's pointed. Is there someway to remove the bright nebula backgrounds, or make the targeting arc more pronounced?

I am running mods, so I'm not sure if the background is from a mod or not, but either way, I'd like to figure out a solution.

Thanks!

There are a couple of things you might try:

1. The "Weapon Arcs" utility mod lets you choose the color that you want for the weapon arcs, making them much brighter and easier to see: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=13535.0

2. As a more drastic solution, you can replace the background images with something darker, so they don't wash out the foreground ships. (I think some modders like to make more dramatic, interesting backgrounds, but yes I feel they make it harder to see the ships and missiles that you actually care about.) For the vanilla (non-modded) game, the background images can be found in: \starsector-core\graphics\backgrounds\
