Title: False Attack Exploit
Post by: 5ColouredWalker on July 25, 2021, 04:35:01 AM
Accidentally found an exploit, wherein you dedicate yourself to an attack, don't deploy any ships, then immediately retreat.

Any deployed AI ships take a hit to readiness, but your own fleet remains intact. Not a major problem if you have any self control, but it might be worth including a check in the fleet post-combat CR recovery so that if you deployed no ships and you don't have AI support, the AI regains all CR.

Put here since it seems to be the best place for it.

Thank you for the report! ... hmm - this is exactly what happens already, though? If you don't deploy anything, or deploy only a little bit, and then retreat/lose the engagement, the enemy ships recover all (or most, if they had to do some actual fighting, as measured by whether they destroyed anything on the player's side) CR.

Am I missing some specific case where this doesn't work? I just tried it, and engaging an enemy fleet, waiting for them to deploy, and retreating (without deploying yourself) does not cause a CR loss for them.

(Is this vanilla or with mods, btw?)
