Adds unique hullmods to the Luddic Church, Sindarian Diktat, Pirates and Tri-Tachyon drones! What's that you say? The Diktat and Tach don't have unique ship skins? Well now they do! The Diktat get a full set of unique skins and those treacherous Tachyons have put out a new handful to "test fire" on the unsuspecting. We've also given The Ludds and Bloods a small boost to their vanilla fleets for your pleasure. And we're not done yet, believe me, there's plenty of torpedoes left in the tubes!

Feels like a great way to add to the vanilla roster!

Two questions:
- Is this save-compatible?
- Are the ships added like Kazeron Navarchy where it's an independent variant?

Yes, you can add it to an existing save, just don't try to remove it after.

Two questions:
- Are the ships added like Kazeron Navarchy where it's an independent variant?

The hullmods are added on to all existing faction variants (except for Buffaloes and the TT Brawler).

The Lion's Guards and Tri-Tachyon ships are new variants.

I was looking at the OP pic and wondering why the Conquest was bothering me. Then I noticed that the LG ships in your mod are using the old WIP sprites from the defunct "The Lion's Guard" mod instead of the newer versions merged in SWP. Is there a particular reason for this?

To reduce the odds of drama, the original Lion's guard skins are now defunct whereas SWP is very much alive.

Minor Update 1.02.09:

Add TT skins.
Moved Mining Blaster and Mining Laser to Hybrid weapon type - there's no good reason why low tech ships shouldn't be able to mount basic mining equipment.

This feels very wrong. Plasma Jets is a distinctly high-tech system. If you want green engine plumes, it might be better to create a new variant of burn drive instead.

Also the Plasma Jets Luddic capitals are unbelievably obnoxious to fight against. There is a good goddamn reason the Onslaught only has a Burn Drive.

I know you were probably going for Green Engines, but the Plasma Jets were a gigantic mistake in an otherwise nifty mod. I'd really, really consider reverting them.

Also the Plasma Jets Luddic capitals are unbelievably obnoxious to fight against. There is a good goddamn reason the Onslaught only has a Burn Drive.

I know you were probably going for Green Engines, but the Plasma Jets were a gigantic mistake in an otherwise nifty mod. I'd really, really consider reverting them.

No worries, have reverted them for next version.

He was focused on the Liberator and didn't specifically mention the other two, have taken them all out for now to be safe. He's got his own version he's yet to release so they'll be getting cut from this mod in the future when he does regardless. Have asked if/when he plans a release and if it's ok to use them in the mean time. Depending on his answer and time scale I may or may not re-add them.

New Lion's guard skins will need a rework as they're very WIP. Figure I'll also look into giving the TT and Ludd another ship going forwards.

Alfonzo's aware of Holy Ludd (modified art assets were removed at his request a while ago). Not sure what's causing the crash, I'm guessing he renamed something but I'll take a proper look at some point, HL needs an update anyway but unfortunately I'm away from home for the moment.

I've added no_drop tags for the next release so they should no longer be dropping and crashing. You'll still be able to but them from the relevant factions though.

Holy Ludd doesn't work with the discord exclusive Luddic Enhancement revamp.

I'm afraid I can't help you there, I'm not on the discord so I won't know what's changed until they make the release public. I'll start adding the LE version numbers to the json so you'll get a warning if there's a chance of it being incompatible before you activate it.

Seems like check (for adding hullmods) is done using `getBaseHullSpec` instead of `getHullSpec`. So those skins find the original atlas mk2 / buffalo mk2, see their are of pirate tech/manufacturer and slap on the hullmod.

My hullmods are appended to the original .ships for the Atlas Mk2, Buffalo Mk.2 and Colossus 3.
The Dakka mod is bleeding through because those ships are .skins based on the original .ship files. I'm not aware of a way to have the hullmod apply only to the base ship (typically you specify to remove unwanted mods in the .skin). Unfortunately I'm not aware of fix that won't break other mods completely. Might be an Alex thing "

2.
Alfonzo added a new hullmod to his Church ships that, I'm guessing, took inspiration from my own, hence the similarities.
Current Solutions:
 - Disable Holy Ludd to remove my Hullmod from LE ships (Its sole purpose is to append it to them).
 - Remove Alfonzos version of the hullmod from his ships.
 - Get Alfonzo to remove his version and replace it with mine.

Out of the three options the 1st can be done by the player (easy fix). The second I can do with Holy Ludd, which would allow the user to decide which version of the hullmod to use. The third option would need to be done by the 'Fonz.

Should probably note that Alfonzo's version was only added in the latest 'experimental' build which he has asked for feedback on. Might be worth leaving a message in his LE thread (HERE (https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=15084.0)) or chasing him down on the discord depending on your feelings.

No problem, hopefully you've reverted everything to how it was before the crashes...

The Dakka hullmod has the id "raider", original name, too lazy to change. You can see the id if you take a peak in Of Ludd and Lions/data/hullmods/hull_mods.csv

What you need to do is tell the relevant ships .skin files to remove the hull mod from those ships. So if you go into

Mods/Vayra's Ship Pack/data/hulls/skins you'll see the following files, open them with a text editor:

as a side note. i suggest avoiding editing base game hulls and such cause it can cause conflict with other mods
or having rules that disable ships from spawning in other mods

this can cause drama/conflict
and also could cause incompatibility with other mods

-u don't wanna be making other mod developers to have to work around what u have done....
(that's why most modders usually never touch vanilla balance/content unless its a overhaul)
u could end up ruffling up some feathers

- with having ied's being disabled in luddic path fleets, i suggest having that as a separate file for people to download apart from the main mod(not everyone reads through the whole post and it may lead to some confusion and people bothering Alfonzo about his mod being "bugged")

- the dakka and sanctified hullmod issues aren't a big deal but i suggest building the skins from the other mod's into your mod to disable it automatically so that instead of other modders having to fix something on their side(possibly *** them off) it could be fixed on yours( would help avoid any drama/conflict)

-also with the mining lasers, changing their weapon type is very minor thing and u probably will get away with it(i like this change a lot) but be cautious about changing any other vanilla weapons. u dont wanna *** up the balance of another persons mod and having another Modder coming to this thread and giving u ***.

people can get really toxic in this community(sadly)
i like your mod and dont want u to stop development cause u were discouraged

-summary be very careful when editing vanilla content and if u do try and work around other mods and build in compatibility on ur side. instead of making others have to work around u.

Don't worry, I get where you're coming from.

Currently trying to minimise the impact on other mods. Had to revamp the AI command (TT) for compatibility and got a potential workaround for the Dakka (P) mod so it doesn't bleed on to other ships even if it's not an ideal solution.

LE side: Disabling IED's was a choice I made because I play on a potato and the explosions cause my computer to crawl (I'm not planning on having two versions of the mod, it's mostly tweaks for me though I'll update the forum description now that you mention it). Regarding the Sanctified/Fonz version, that was something he's only just added in his 'experimental' build. If he decided to keep it I'll probably adjust Holy Ludd so that it removes his version or drop mine completely, but being that it's experimental and has the potential to change on a whim I'm not going to stress about it until he's made a decision. In the meanwhile people have the option to disable Holy Ludd if they don't want both.

Found another bug. This mod removes all capital ships from Sindrian market from mods and base game. After removing this mod and starting a new save it got fixed. Mods that is maybe causing the conflict Torch ships and Armament and Ship/weapon pack. Not sure with Luddic factions factions since i didnt check but they might have the same bugs as well since i've got alot of ship packs loaded. Please check into that.

I'll likely move to permanent links from the next update and push to get it out sooner rather than later for you. Any particular reason you'd want the weapons and h-mods separate?


For the rest of you folks, next update is an inter-mod comparability one. Pirates, Tachs and Lion's ships getting adjustments. Not sure what to do with the (Holy) Ludds but there are options on the table pending.

Howdy, interested in trying this mod for a couple of things, primarily the ship mods. Oh, and being able to use the mining gear with lower tech ships.

However the mod isn't available for being downloaded by the current host unless paid for. Is that intended?
Also, what's the chances of being able to get the mining gear and ship hull mods separately?

Don't worry, links expire after 30 days. Don't give them money! I'm updating on a regular basis and posting new links as I go. I'll likely move to permanent links from the next update and push to get it out sooner rather than later for you. Any particular reason you'd want the weapons and h-mods separate?


For the rest of you folks, next update is an inter-mod comparability one. Pirates, Tachs and Lion's ships getting adjustments. Not sure what to do with the (Holy) Ludds but there are options on the table pending.

You don't have to worry about 1. so much, those 4 high-tech ships spawn in addition to their originals. You don't have to touch them if you don't want to and you'll still find the originals in the Tachy fleets.

2. Bleed through should now be fixed. This update was originally a comparability one before I added latest/missing content.

If I'm not mistaken the Holy Ludd minimod puts your hullmod into the ships from Luddic Enhancement. Which is good to stay coherent. But takes away the IED ships from their fleet. Which I disagree with.
So of course I'm gonna ask like every nitpicker out there is there a way to have my pizza without anchovy ? Holly Ludd while keeping the IEDs ?

Of course you can, it's an easy fix. Go into the mod folder and delete the world folder and you're sorted.

Because I've been doing a lot of save-breaking between updates. I don't think it's fair to "publish" a mod to the index when it's not feature complete and requires a new game every time I put out an update.

Next update should be the last major one for the foreseeable future...

how rare are the lions guard reskins? reason i'm asking is because they aren't showing up in any sindrian diktat market, and i was wondering if they were just exceedingly rare or if this is a problem (i was not playing with any other mods while testing it)

Some observations:
- Not sure if this is because in wing_data.csv the referenced IDs are not in the folder; they only exist as .skin files.

Honestly, I don't know. The point of Ludd and Lions was to spice up the vanilla factions and now that Alex has taken note I'm somewhat happy to hand the mantle over to him.

The current temptation is to axe (some of) my ships to make way for Alex's versions, and depending on the specifics I might append my hullmod to his LG ships as a counter buff to his nerf.

Also the hammer class torpedoeshit like a truck. I used it in my redacted ship as well as dun scaiths.

Bad .csv, columns were unaligned, fix is up.

The new showcase picture doesn't have a purple Xyphos in it, was it axed?

I removed all fighters, turns out Starsector is very particular in naming in some areas and I was using workarounds to avoid crashes. I've got no issues adding it back in for you, and when I do, I'll do it the right way.

If there's any other ships you want back, let me know.

gust is outright broken. it has all the advantages of squall(save for effectiveness vs frigates) and none of the weaknesses. it has higher dps than squall since it splooges out missiles way faster. despite this, it has a nearly nonexistent refire delay. if you play this game at all you'll know damn well the AI will literally never drop their shield unless they're at nearly overloaded. as a result, gust is effectively an autowin button against anything cruiser/cap size or at/below enforcer speed. it also has the secondary effect of pushing medium sabots out of relevance. since the medium sabot refire delay is very high relative to gust, you'll always see gust and almost never sabot so it's not really filling a niche; just pushing out sabot from relevance.
speaking of refire delay, the medium hammer rack's refire delay is very low for the amount of ammo it has. medium missiles always have relatively high refire delays compared to their small counterparts because the medium missile slot is available to nearly everything under the sun and they don't suffer from the ammo limitations of their small counterparts. the medium hammer's refire delay should be at least a second or 2 longer because it already does more damage per shot compared to the medium reaper(4.5k vs 4k).
refire delays is also this way to balance against missile specialization because the skill halves refire delay. if the refire delay is already relatively low the skill makes it nearly nonexistent. base missile dps can't be too high because the game will nearly always assign an officer with missile specialization to these ships that can slot it medium missiles. as a result, what you get is double of what you see.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and address it.

I find Gust vs. Sabot is situational, DPS wise the Sabot has a slightly higher DPS (202 vs. 216). The sabot has a much higher burst making it more effective at overloading shields whereas the Gust is better at sustained pressure due to its shorter refire delay. The sabot also has much higher EMP (80 vs. 216) (the sabot also gets +25% chance of +200 per hit) while the gust has a higher hit strength giving them different roles on unshielded targets. The gust also has that tracking issues vs. Frigates/Destroyers but that was offset with damage potential/ammo count (12k vs. 15k). There is an issue with the AI using missiles in that they're much more liberal with the application of Gusts but I find that when they do use Sabots it's much more devastating - If you want a good example of the liberal use of Sabots check out the Gizzard which is set to use missiles like they're going out of fashion, the LG variant in particular is set to use a nasty combination of Atropos and Sabots by default.

You are right though, the Gust is strong, but it's situational if it's actually better than the Sabot, generally I find I'm using Sabots as general purpose missiles and Gusts on 'capital killers'. But don't panic, the gust is going to be nerfed! Alex has plans to nerf the Squall and the Gust uses the same warhead so when he updates the Squall it will automatically carry-over.


As for the Hammer, I'll take a look, the large hammer has a cooldown of 5.45 seconds and the small (double) has a cooldown of 1 second. The medium sits at 3.5, which I considered a happy medium, I'll probably bump it up to 4 but I can't really go higher than that.


How did you feel about the Atropos Pod, you seem to have an idea of how you want missiles to feel and I hope I've satisfied there.

Small missiles get to have nonexistent cooldowns because making use of said cooldowns requires a significant degree of investment either via expanded missile racks, a comparatively expensive mod, or through missile expertise which, in the player's case, is an investment requiring 5 skill points(significantly more if you plan to get both it and systems expertise). This is the general rule for all small missiles with very small ammo pools. That's why small harpoons and sabots get to shoot with little to no delay. As a corollary, breach missiles see no change in refire delay between small and medium mounts because there is no significant limit on the ammo of small breach missiles. Not only does the medium hammer rack have a good bit of ammo, it doesn't suffer any of the ergonomic issues of its large counterpart like the wide missile spread. The spread of the medium rack is comparatively tight. It stands to reason then that the medium hammer rack must have a refire delay equal to or greater than its large counterpart.
The medium atropos is fine where it is.
