Title: VRAM issues linked to .95 update
Post by: Bob69Joe on April 23, 2021, 10:37:06 AM
I've only ever seen orange error messages about low vram from Starsector until after updating to .95. I used to play the previous version with Nexerelin and many other mods and have never received the error message.

Thing is, my laptop only runs the game with all resources already given over to the game. Normally I get 20 to 30 fps in hyperspace and in combat, about 10 frames. This is the same performance I get in the update, so I'm wondering why the game is now always warning me about vram. Has the message only been included in this update? I could turn it off in the settings and carry on, it's mostly a nuisance on the screen.

Yeah, it's a new thing, and it only shows up when you're running with mods. Should be no problem to turn it off via settings.json - just change doRAMandVRAMChecksWhenRunningWithMods to false.
