Title: Ship loadout save/load?
Post by: mrpras on November 22, 2020, 04:11:43 PM
So I know there are default builds on many ships but... I want to be able to replace them with my own builds because they're never what I actually want. I enjoy fitting ships but when I have the perfect build I don't want to have to click hundreds of times just to have another identical ship.

Would be great to be able to save and restore builds per ship such as "tank" or "dps" etc.. Including fighters, hullmods etc. Sorry if it's already been suggested or is already there and I just didn't realise.

Already there. In the outfit screen you can delete the old plans and add the ships current design as new one.

He might want to do that across saves, which isn't possible with how saving variants in campaign is implemented.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't realise it was in the game already thanks!

Also, I would indeed want to carry them over to different playthroughs - maybe the game could save the loadouts you store?

Bonus note is that once you have your own colonies, your AI patrol fleets will also use those loadouts you've saved.

Pretty sad it wasn't implemented between saves, such a basic QOL.

I never knew that! Well that's neat.

This thread is 3 years old. Also, this is probably not true.

Huh? Player colony fleets use active templates the player made.

It's true but not in an useful way. If you have a custom variant for a ship and the blueprint for it you can refresh the example patrol until you find it. While it will be named your variant if you inspect its weapons you will find that they won't use the correct ones even if the blueprints are unlocked.

Worked for me (had mods) last time I checked so last year or the year before, did all my builds 1 to 1 and I obviously had all the blueprints needed for the builds. The ships were literally the variants I made. On the other hand I am sure the ones I ordered from my heavy industries had random weapon slop... 0.96 or 0.951 I guess.

It's random which loadouts your ships get when spawning in either your patrols or when ordered from heavy industry.  Chosen from either the premade options or from the ones you've made and saved.  It is worth noting that you cannot prevent the default options from being chosen, even if they're not among the four quick swap loadouts.
