Title: Properly adding Starsector to Steam.
Post by: VGBND on September 14, 2020, 03:53:54 PM
Not going to take a lot of your time, so I'll make it quick. Absolutely love the game, thank you Sseth, wish devs good luck in finishing and here is how to add Starsector (like now) to Steam without any sort of pressure or downside.

Here is an example:

In Steam you can prematurely add your game to the store page, so people can wishlist it. What does this do?

 - Instead of constantly visiting the main website for news on release date of 1.0, you (can) get an email response, newsletter and message through Steam, when the game releases.
 - No review pressure, reviews are disabled until released.
 - You can release the game when you consider it ready and see how many people wishlisted your game.
 - No price showcase, and release date information can be any kind you like.
 - Customers can follow your game and get general update news through Steam.
 - So far, AFAIK, it costs only $100 to do this and no upkeep cost, same for releasing a game right away.

With that said, adding Starsector like this to Steam will make tracking it better and easier, which in return allows for more potential customers to stick around and not forget about the game, since it's easier to check the wishlist and refresh your memories than by accident remembering it, for whatever reason.

That is all, thank you for coming to my TEDtalk. Fly safe.
