Title: Bolstering fleet defense question.
Post by: Logiwonk on January 21, 2020, 10:48:26 AM
Hello, first post. Just got done with my first 30-40 hours of starsector, loving it. Had some questions about colony fleet defense:

1) Is there a way to give ships to your defense fleets? Early on before starting heavy industry it would be nice to give the defense fleets 1 or 2 D mod ships to work with.

2) Is it worthwhile to have multiple patrol hq/military bases/high command in the same solar system? Right now my High Command is on my second largest colony and I was wondering if I should put up patrol hq on my other two planets in the same system.

Also if anyone has a link for a nexerelin mod guide I would appreciate it, planning on trying that out for my next playthrough.

Thanks!

1. No.
2. Yes, very much so. Stacking military bases is a reliable way of making a system virtually impenetrable.

Thanks, appreciate it. If there are any enterprising modders out there who feel like adding an option to "donate ship to defense fleet" please steal the idea! Could really help enhance the importance of scavenging early on before heavy industry. Seems a shame to be scrapping ships with 2 d mods when my defense fleet has an average of 4 d mods per ship.

if you don't want to build military base in your core system, you can build military base in system that core system fleet will pass through, and there will be a patrol feel at their jump point that can be used to intercept income fleet  :P

BTW, there is command option that is not highlighted all the time. How can i activate it, and what is it's purpose? Is it even possible to command fleets that you build? Like, give them command to go and attack some systems?

It's a placeholder. It's inaccessible and does nothing.
