Simple suggestion. Instead of ignoring shield activation button while venting, make it remember the pressed key and toggle shields on, immediately after venting stops. It would also be nice if there will be shield status symbol in the on-ship's HUD. Simple green square/triangle/circle (empty/filled) will suffice. Sometimes, when you are shield flickering under fire its hard to see the actual shield and its possible to turn it off when it is less than unnecessary.

I suggested before that holding down the right mouse button, (or whatever key is assigned to for toggling shields) whilst still venting should automatically turn the shield on when the venting has finished.

Yeah, I've got an item to look at this somewhere. IIRC the issue is that doing this would mean a lot of testing to make sure it didn't break something (since the fix is such that that's possible/likely) so it's not as trivial as it might sound, but in principle - at least, not having seen it in action yet - I do think that's a good idea.

Phase ships have similar issues. They need quick access to cloaking as their main defense. If the ship is still on cooldown or venting, the cloak command will get dropped. If you mash the button, you'll cloak and instantly decloak, causing even more trouble.

Right, yeah, this would be a thing for both.

This comes up from time to time. I hope for an option to have an option for right click to have keep shields up no matter what and raise them, whenever they drop (from venting, skimming, whatever), with only overload and high flux turning it off.

The indicator that tells you if shields are up or not would also be nice against the harbinger as well. If you are using a ship with long range, you can miss your shields getting de-activated pretty easily.

Yes to both.
Shield and cloak toggles are two commands that would be extremely useful if the game learned how to buffer and delay-execute these.
