Title: Better UI scaling for higher resolutions
Post by: From a Faster Time on December 31, 2018, 08:19:41 AM
I feel the UI in certain menus is not utilizing the screenspace given to it.
Here is a picture of what I mean

I can forgive it on crew/cargo screen, but I definitely feel the need for it in command screen and even more so do I lament this in the intel screen.

An option would be nice, but keep in mind that some people play on enormous screens, and having the UI scale to those resolutions means having to constantly move your mouse across the screen.

Uh, sure. Just saying that at 1080p, it feels claustrophobic and instead of "having to move your mouse a lot, I have to move and click a lot, to move the map to get an overview of stuff, for instance. Currently it feels like the UI is made for small laptop screens. Having it scale to 1080p at least would hardly mean "having to constantly move your mouse across the screen."

Seems like he's working on it, at least for the Intel screen.

I personally don't have a problem with it. I think the UI looks very good, and usually it's one of the things that don't have too much work put into them during alpha / beta since it's not that important.

The bottom left campaign UI is textbook definition of how it should be done. It's minimal, looks good, and gives you all the info you need.

Didn't say it looks bad. It looks good, just to be clear. I'm just saying there is screen space that I wish I could use to better see the map, or missions tab for instance.
