One thing I'd suggest is setting Xms to 4096 as well.

`could also send the settings file as i did change a few things and don't know if its something that could potentially break the game.

it does the error but it also freezes with no error. Its random. ~~So wheres the save bak?~~

Hmm. It's probably simpler just to save off the mods/saves/jre folders and do a clean install, then re-edit vmparams. Trying to undo changes in settings.json piecemeal would be awkward because we'd never be 100% sure we got everything back the right way.

um i can't delete the starsector core folder and its empty...

wtf okay so i make a copy of the folders, delete *** i replace with the old stuff (mods, jre, weapon specs, portrait folder) and i edit meme allocation and launch the game and throws me an error: Fatal: Ship hull spec (mule) not found! Check starsector.log for more info. it throwed the crash twice... wtf

okay i go to launch the game from the other backup folder and it throws me a different error: Fatal: Eror loading [data/hulls/ship_data.csv] resource, not found in [.,/starfarer.res/res,CLASSPATH]... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggggggggggg why does it have to be such a pain in the ass to get simple game running A 2D GAME WHY!? >:( ??? :o

Make a copy of the .bak files (so as not to lose them) and then just remove the .bak from the filenames.

hmm for some reason I can't... btw nomads is now 0.8a comp so i am restarting as i can't miss out on it and will do the same with blackrock but it still doesn't fix the issue for the future...

also found the same issue i found previously where outfitting seems to have a memory leak. I just installed the reds and tried to outfit the largest ship and after a certain point it starts freezing and the game slows down till it crashes. And it was with 64 bit java weirdly enough...

Hmm - if you haven't already, would you mind posting about that in the mod's thread? I'm sure the mod author would like to know.

alright i will. Seems like saving is still an issue. I tried the game with 4 gigs and 4 gigs and it still has issues. Increased the second one to 8 gigs but the saving is still not working :(

okay so now i just copied a save and the game didn't crash its just not responding and stuck at 0%cpu and 38.7mb being used... like its not changing its just staying like this... Is it a bug?

update: i had to end task it as it was doing nothing. all that changed in 10 minutes is it went up to 38.8mb but thats it.

Thanks for the crash report; that's fixed for the .1 release.

Really don't know what's going on. At this point, I would suggest disabling some mods to see if that helps/if you can nail down which one is causing it; as far as I'm aware people are able to run a bunch of mods with this memory allocation without these problems.

If someone with more experience re: specific mods has any thoughts and could chime in, that would be very helpful.

Point of note: The ship he is having trouble with comes from the "Reds" faction, is about 20 times longer than an onslaught and 4 times wider, has 24 flight decks, and has hundreds of weapons.

Sounds like it'd be a bug somewhere if that didn't cause problems. Yeah, that's just not going to work well period, it's way too far outside the expected parameters of operation.

yeah i would expect :P but yeah I will try to see if reducing some mods will fix it. The weird part is i can save as soon as the game start but after a few days it becomes impossible... I have a feeling the game tries to save too many things on the market and it just piles up. Save transfer would really be useful for me as the game is stable now, I didn't get any crashes but its still annoying to know that any progress i have will be wiped out :( I really would like to have help to find the issue as its been like this forever and everyone else has a blast while i play on a bomb but the game just doesn't work... but works fine on peoples laptops. Could it be a hardware incompatibility issue? bios? just drivers in general?

Could it be possible that the game isn't being run by admin? and if so, could it be the cause? Hell could it be java 64 bits u79 the problem? as it seems like the crash i had earlier was a lack of memory but there clearly is enough. I also have a memory leak in my windows explorer and i need to restart it every now and then could that be a cause?

tried debugging the game using MVS (the game is not responding but this time it seems like the cpu is still working as it keeps moving around 70% to 86% use) and the ram is stuck at 994.6mb

okay well now the game crashed again after letting it idle for like 20 minutes and it gave the opengl error again

I will remove the mods you suggested to remove. The only one I do want to keep is Tore up plenty as its really fun but i guess the rest has to go :/
also templar knights seem to be a big factor as i disabled it and it seems to work now... I testes it on a new save (which didn't have the reds as well) so yeah I will do as you said

Is your max officer level set higher than 29? If so then that can cause a crash
