Title: Mod creation. Where to start?

I've been interested in starsector for quite some time. I've always wanted to contribute somehow but I have no clue how to even start modding or how to design ships/weapons.

Any tips?

Take a simple non-compiled mod, and start picking it apart and replace the content. Right now the only mod that do not compile its code to do advanced stuff is Flu-X I believe. The Wikipedia page also has a few pointers for early modding.

start with a good idea ...... and try to make it real
