Thanks to some fancy trickery (RetroGen™) the new starsystems from this mod will retroactively generate into
saves created without them, making it theoretically safe to add midsave!

A series of hopefully unique and interesting ships. My eventual goal was to kitbash a ship for every faction as an exercise for myself, now that that has been accomplished, the new direction for this mod is mostly bounties, quests and campaign level content.

Also adds a series of player faction flags based off the old designs, intended to allow for roleplaying as a sub-faction of the major vanilla factions, these flags have been used to delineate factions in the ship showcase.

Its called JaydeePiracy because the first kitbash was a pirate ship (its actually no longer implemented in the mod, search the files for the Tortuga if you dare) and the mod was originally created to share that one ship, If you would rather call it JaydeePack, be my guest, but its too annoying to change the name on the back-end for me to bother with something so immaterial.

Pirates

(Pirates) Plunder: Created by pirates, beloved by mercenaries, a compact dedicated Missile Destroyer refit of the Sunder brought to you by the Thulian Raiders.

BOUNTY (Pirates) Falcon (VI-P): A pirate retrofit of a Falcon (VI), left behind by the Domain Sixth Battlegroup post collapse. Extremely well suited to missile bombardment, and perhaps the inspiration for the regular Falcon (P).

Mercenaries

(Mercenaries) Epistle: An advanced command shuttle refit of the Kite, perfect for a fleet Admiral who values their own life enough to lead from the rear.

(Mercenaries) Cinquedea: Capable long range strike vessel, often used for chasing fleeing bounties, developed just between the end of the "Cruiser School" revolution and the new High Tech dominated era of Domain Procurement.

Independents

(Independents) Gretchen: Pushed into service by desperate Polities, one of the first Phase ships ever deployed, dating back to the start of the Cruiser School revolution.

(Independents) Lupara: A falcon modified for civilian mining operations, packs a serious missile armament, at the cost of a hacked fabricator that cannot produce sophisticated guidance systems.

(Independents) Florencia: An adequately equipped policing vessel, designed deliberately to have shared parts with civilian vessels available on the fringe.

(Independents) Cydonia: An extensively equipped deep-space exploration platform, the Cydonia is even rarer and more desirable than its cousin the Apogee.

(Independents) Vertex (Wing): A retrofitted survey drone deployed by the Cydonia, equipped for point-defence and utilises deliberately overloaded equipment to produce a small arc field. Barely suited for combat.

Persean League

(Persean League) Shoebill: A logistics minelayer hybrid, deployed on the outskirts of Domain space to support the few manned fleets sent to crush insurrection on the frontiers.

BOUNTY (Persean League) Eider: An ill-fated vessel, the Eider was designed as a manoeuvrable anvil from which carriers could strike behind, a paradoxical anchor for the "cruiser school" doctrine.

(Persean League) Trident (DEM) (Wing): A formidable refit of the Trident Bomber to fit within Persean League doctrine, trading half its wing size for an armament of advanced Dragonfire and Gazer DEMs.

Hegemony

(Hegemony) Arcubus: A conservative artillery battleship deployed simultaneously with the Legion, particularly favoured by the XIV, only the modified variant remains in the Persean Sector.

(Hegemony) Florencia (A): A variant of the Florencia up-armoured for use by the Hegemony Auxiliary, often used for policing action and anti-piracy.

Sindrian Diktat

(Sindrian Diktat) Supremator: Brainchild of Andrada's inflated ego after the "success" of the Executor, an extensive refit of the Conquest to bring a full battery of firepower to bear.

(Sindrian Diktat) Drover (LG): Gunship conversion of the Drover developed by the Lions Guard to crush the individualism often displayed by "fighter jocks" who detract from military unity and togetherness, spitting in the face of Andradanism.

Tri-Tachyon

(Tri-tachyon) Miridian: Military recreation of the Apogee, the development of which was funded by a nostalgic board member.

BOUNTY (Tri-tachyon) Thunderer: A "revolutionary" new type of warship, a Capital class vessel designed for anti-piracy and specialised against smallcraft, manoeuvrable and well armed, but often finds itself outmatched by its own weight class.

(Tri-tachyon) Pup (Wing): A large internal parasite craft deployed by the Thunderer, less a fighter and more a concealable escort.

Luddic Church

(Luddic Church) Cassius: Radical restructuring of the Legion, commissioned after the Hegemony and Church of Galactic Redemption's falling out after the first AI war.

(Luddic Church) Lorica: Sidegrade to the Manticore deemed unnecessary by the Hegemony, immensely durable for its size but lightly armed. Donated to the Church during the first AI war and never requested back.

Luddic Path

(Luddic Path) Atlas Mk.II-LP: Atlas repurposed by Luddic Fanatics into a bombardment vessel, provides unconventional fire support with its built in unique weapon, the Cargo IED Launcher.

(Luddic Path) Grendel (LP): The demons of Moloch were driven to madness when forced to crew this vessel, for it had already been claimed by the light of Ludd himself as a vehicle of Holy War and belonged to the righteous, or so the story goes.

(Explorarium) Custodian: An aberrant drone, its self-repair programs corrupted by a new prime directive. Provides fighter support to automated defence fleets.

(Explorarium) Keep (Wing): A large internal parasite craft deployed by the Custodian, provides heavy fire support in a durable and compact package.

(Explorarium) Barbican (Wing): A drone wing deployed by the Custodian, supports the sluggish Automated fleet by killing enemy engines with an armament of salamander missiles.

Okay, but what is it about? (MAJOR SPOILERS)
Spoiler
The Department of Hyperspace Physics have found a Driessig Distortion in the space just below Arcadia, an unusual hyperspace anomaly that Alviss explains indicates the presence of a gate in Deep Space. What could possibly be there?

Investigating reveals a Domain-era Blacksite, established to monitor the Persean Sector for dissent and... Respond accordingly... Using a Planetkiller Launch Vehicle capable of sundering the entirety of the Core Worlds within a cycle.

Post-Collapse the base was abandoned, and following the defeat of the automated defences, the weapon could be yours, or at least the data required to replicate it around one of your worlds.

The mere threat of Terracide is enough to grant global bonuses to your faction and open up new "negotiation strategies" when dealing with the leadership of other factions during Colony Crisises.

Naturally without the activation codes to unsafe a Planetkiller Device the structure is functionally inert, but would the sector be willing to take that chance, and call the greatest bluff the Persean Sector has ever seen?

JaydeePiracy Changelog (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CG8XQtDXwXBFKHhtTf-e2k39yTwFki44/view)

Thanks to Lukas04, TouchOfVanilla, Wispborne, Minideth3 and too many more to count whose help has been invaluable to coding the more complicated functionality this mod now has.

WARNING! This mod makes the vanilla Planetkiller into a colony item (to force a choice). I have taken the steps I can think of to avoid this causing conflicts, but I'm sure to have missed things. If this causes any problems, assume the fault lies with me and tell me so I can fix it. Thanks!

Hi! I liked the modded ships but theres a problem with Supremator. Hullmod not working

(Read it closer.

I’ve changed the description in the most recent version because it’s a pretty cruel joke and that version of the description doesn’t really convey what’s going on properly. I’ve copied the new one out here:

“An attempt to reduce the ordnance point cost of large energy weapons by 10.

It accomplishes nothing but get petty officers executed for treason when they naively point out to their superiors that the system simply doesn't work. The mess of auxiliary reactors, dedicated flux conduits and tangled grids increases the chance of critical malfunction, although by a small enough amount that it can be scrubbed from official combat logs. These flaws are baked directly into the hull and cannot be fixed using the technology available to the Persean Sector.”

It doesn’t work on purpose, you think Sindria have the technical know how to make something like that work? Everyone who has crewed it knows it doesn’t work but pointing it out gets them shot so it stays on the ships readout.

(You should update if you can anyway because I can see you’re on the version where the Supremators engine plumes are borked up.)

Functionally it’s a D-mod that lies to you. It’s not your fault for not realising, I reworded the description for a reason, it’s wasn’t very clear.)

I've kept it for posterity but this is no longer true, as of version 0.3.4 the Hullmod works as advertised, it was too confusing and made a ship that's already not great even worse.

I remember seeing on reddit this guy who made different cargo container missiles, but never released his version

Thank you so much for reporting this.  I was scratching my head on some "disappeared" dialogue options in the Mimikko mod and turns out deleting rules.csv was the fix.

Deleting rules.csv from the mod folder fixes this.

(I'll get rid of it in the next update, this mods rules.csv doesn't actually do anything, its a remnant from me trying to add dialogue that wasn't actually necessary.)

Rules.csv has a use again as of 0.3.4 but from my testing this is issue has not returned.

Good day Jaydee8652!  :)

Just wanna say im really surprised and quite impressed your kitbashed ships are really lore friendly and really fit the setting of Starsector.
Especially the [SOY REDACTED], [REDACTED] and the [SUPER ALABASTER].

Congrats being on the mod index !

I hope Alex and co. would implement some of your kitbashed ships in the future Vanilla updates especially the LP version of the atlas!
(cargo dumb missiles are kinda cool)

I hope you still update and maintain your mod in the next update.
It would be a shame if its abandoned.

That is all and thank you!  :D

"Its called JaydeePiracy because the first one was a pirate ship and the mod was originally created to share that one ship."

I hate when mods change their names, it makes the backend so much more annoying, so I'm simply sticking with JDP. Ultimately most mod names are arbitrary anyway.

General Feedback!
I Love the Shoebill! Though it's too passive for its weapon loadout. Adding a Aggressive Officer does help in Vanilla but when using "AI Tweaks mod" adding the COMBAT in hints does help. Makes the ship act similar to the Legion in battle. I also tried changing the system to reserve deployment and hmm... Yeah nevermind. Great mod! Ps the The Penrose movement is a bit clunky. It looks weird like it when it's moves. Maybe add more weight to it might help or decreasing its acceleration might give it more of a weight to its movement.

Ps the The Penrose movement is a bit clunky. It looks weird like it when it's moves. Maybe add more weight to it might help or decreasing its acceleration might give it more of a weight to its movement.

I've talked about this with a few others and its a bit controversial, but the Penrose moving weird is intentional, its meant to unnerve you. Whether it accomplishes that or just looks goofy is debatable, bit for now I'm keeping it how it is.

Also for gameplay, it's already fast enough and has enough mass to be a brutal ramming ship just at its normal speed. Giving it even more mass... I think it would be bad.

The real solution would just be to reduce its manoeuvrability, but if I did that I would want to give it a buff elsewhere to keep it intimidating. At one point I did plan to reverse engineer the reflective shields script from SWP, but given the controversy surrounding that I just decided not to touch it.

very very minor suggestion: since the XIV battlegroup and the Lion's Guard have their own unique design types in vanilla, and vanilla XIV/LG ships all properly fit into those design types instead of the generic "Midline" "Low tech" groups (including the Executor which doesn't have LG in it's name but belongs in the LG design type anyways), could you make it so that the XIV and LG-themed ships (Supremator, Arcubus) added by this mod also belong to the unique design types instead of generic midline/low tech?

Currently? Yes. In future after my next balance pass? Probably not.

The Arcubus has some nerfs slated for it and that will probably be the first change when I get around to that sort of thing.

It should be in your cargo, its an industry blueprint like the planetary shield. Promising Alviss you won't use it shouldn't actually stop you, I thought that would be cruel.

The Sa-Matra is elsewhere, kill the defenders of a Hypershunt and check the bounty board.

Hi, first off, great mod. Second, unlike the guy above, i used a biomodded officer to be able to pilot the sa-matra and its combat readiness sits solidly at 78. It costs like 6k supplies per fight if it gets damaged but hey, we are in the end game here. And finally, my actual query. I got the frictionless material reward that "i can apply to three ships", but i see no way to actually go about doing that. Sorry if its obvious and im just missing it, but could you tell me how to go about using it? Thanks. SIDE NOTE: It seems that the game literally deleted my omega core lol. I dont know what you will do with that information but I'm sorry i just have no idea where it went and i dont know when it went either (its ok i dont really need it since its impossible to field the sa-matra with it anyways)

EDIT: im really dumb

Something about the writing, though, Alviss seems a bit too... collected? Normal? He isn't quite as bubbly and goofy as he usually should be, methinks, it was a bit off-putting.

You're going to have fun in the new quest, he's even more grim in this one.

Alviss is weird to write, because I feel like I made him too childish and too competent at the same time, and am not really sure how to deal with it,

Is this mod vanilla balanced?
The ships look op. I try to only use mods that don't make the vanilla ships obsolete.
Could someone tell me before I install it? The mod looks interesting.

Yup I'm also interested in knowing what the balance is like. I strongly prefer to keep balance close to vanilla balance.

Ships and hullmods you get are OP, but you have to do some OP fights to get them.

frictionless material reward that "i can apply to three ships", but i see no way to actually go about doing that...

EDIT: im really dumb

I must be dumb too because I can't figure it out. I don't seem to have access to the hullmod that uses it, although I can see the hullmod in the codex already. Did you have to do anything else?

Edit: Ok I'm really stupid too.

I have this mod installed alongside AOTD and SOTF, and I can't install the planetkiller on the launch site, I even console command added more of it to my inventory (and the SOTF variant) and the thing does not work.
I am having the same issue, any idea whats causing it?

Thinking of what mods might impact this, I wonder if you (jaydee) accounted for the IX battlegroup?

Oh Kaysaar you!

It's Animated Colony Items, they told me they fixed it on their end like a month ago but checking now I don't think they ever pushed the update, I might have to poke them again.

Remove the planetkiller from the animated colony items special_items.csv for now, that should fix it unless this is something else.

EDIT: Just talked with Kaysaar, it is still present. They're messing with trying to fix the codex issues I think so don't have suitable release candidate to fix it. My previous advice should work.

I've run into a problem where the nascent gravity well for a A History Mystery is inaccessible because it's too close to another system. Tried jumping in several times at varying distance but no dice.

Could someone tell me the name of the system?  I figure I can jump in with console commands (if that works, don't know how "systems" without stars work)

I'm running adjusted sector so that may have interfered with the placement.

I really enjoy this mod so I would like to finish the quests on this playthrough if possible.

So the name is Unknown Location like the Alpha Site, so that won't work, probably.

The system id is "jdp_Hiroc", and it contains the planets Hiroc and Convair.

For future reference:
The system now has the internal name of jdp_unknown location

Thanks. You're unfortunately correct, it didn't work. Tried jdp_hiroc, hiroc and searching for systems.

Oh well, next campaign.

As a last resort, you could do "survey all", then the planets would appear in the list, you could see location, and then teleport when in devmode, but that would permanently mess up your save.

I'll add a specific devcommand for this in the next update.

I think I might've broken a quest.

Spoiler
So I accepted the quest, heeded the suggestion of building a colony to help me out. Put up a station, upgraded it to star fortress. I also installed an interstellar relay from Industrial Revolution, and had Dustkeeper fleets from RAT, meaning there were patrol fleets around the planet. When I finally got around to going to the system to fight Penrose... it's not there. Not in orbit around the planet at least, and not showing up with the neutrino detector either. The quest to defeat the Penrose is still in my missions tab, though. Is it possible the patrol fleets and the star fortress killed it by themselves?

Omega isn't hostile, so they shouldn't engage by themselves. If you fought Omega through NEX or More Miliary Missions it might cause this to happen?

I'll investigate.

I should clarify that the Omega ship was in orbit of the planet when I got there originally. In fact I tried to fight it and it kicked my ass. I did reload a save (the ship was still there after the save loaded), established a colony, then *** off while the station and relays and ground batteries were being built. It's only after I came back some time later that I saw the ship was gone.

Okay so, if the Omega faction ever end up hostile to the player faction, your patrols will attack the Penrose and potentially kill it by themselves. If you ever dealt with the Omega faction not in a Hypershunt, they will have been made hostile and therefore the Penrose was killed.

If you want to try again, there's an option in the Galatia dev directory you get when in dev mode that will start the quest again.

I think the only way to fix this permanently is to make my own clone of the Omega faction. Hrrr.

Good to know, thanks! I guess I'll use the dev fix then.

Also, I don't know if this is a base game thing or a mod thing (probably Nex), but every time I've encountered a Hypershunt for the first time, a small Omega fleet chases me down not long after and demands something from me. You can give it AI cores or fight it, and I guess fighting it made the Omega faction hostile.

The Penrose isn't treated as an unique or restricted ship by the game, so when the game pulls ships from the omega faction, it can potentionally create fleets that consist of multiple Penroses, for example in station defence missions from MMM, and the Veil of Knowledge encounter from AoTD
