defeat the following fleet like ~10 times(keep loading). the best loot i can get is 3 beta cores, not a single alpha core. I am wondering if there is a limit of how many alpha cores you can have at anytime or it just cant spawn on fleet ?
in need of a few alpha core for managing some planets that im going to colonize.
thanks.

IIRC reloading won't change the loot you get in a battle? Otherwise I wouldn't know why you aren't getting any, you can get them from that kind of fleet.

It does for me. Is it not supposed to?

I could just be wrong :D

It kinda doesn't but there are some inconsistencies :) (Of which some - hopefully most/all - are fixed in-dev, but forget all the details.)

It's still a bit messed up that a fleet that difficult doesn't award a single alpha. Yes, over the long term the probabilities might work out, but it's insanely frustrating to have multiple back-to-back battles like in the OP and keep getting unlucky. Could you perhaps consider some sort of guaranteed minimal drops at certain fleet sizes or pity timers to help players' sanity? The average amount doesn't have to change, just the consistency.

For the record and if you don't mind me asking - what's your fleet for the purpose? Thanks!

You were probably just unlucky there. I got pretty bad results from High-Threat fleets with Radiants in them, and I got good results from medium 'invisible' hyperspace fleets. But YMMV.
A good Redacted smashing fleet IMO has at least 2 Apogees to shield tank, a couple of Afflictors/Tempests/Omens to distract and soak up attention, a couple of Beam Sunders to wreak havoc, maybe some bigger phase ships, and then a flagship you're comfortable with. Could be a Harbinger, a Doom, a Conquest... you only need to take care of the Radiants first so they don't take care of you.
You can also farm these fleets with a pair of Paragons, but that's getting boring.

I think in this case they were attacking the same fleet over and over again and hoping for a better "loot" roll, rather than having actual back to back battles.

It doesn't really matter since the same could happen with different fleets, as the probabilities currently are independent.

I think it might be some mods changed the behavior, alpha core cant drop in fleets(defeated many fleets, not single drop from them, gotten 40+ beta cores), stations that equipped them 100% drop chance.
