A silly-ish mod request
« on: May 06, 2015, 09:16:00 PM »

can we, or someone, please. PLEASE -PLEASE- make a Kerbal Space Program mod?
I'd love to see rag-tag ships just piecemealed together, likely with great hull rateings, and no shields, getting by on pure number of parts that in the way of keeping the thing from explodeing
I don't even know what all would go into it, but it amuses me to no end to think of kerbals in Starsector.

Get to work, then. If you have something to show maybe you can convince other people to hop on board.

'Get to work then'
I've tried my hand at modding, I just rather totally suck at it. It's not something I have the patience for either.
In my experience, the best I could do is either commission someone to make it,
or just put my idea out there and hope someone more capable likes, and makes it.

Making a mod out of another intellectual property is extremely... meh.

Unfortunately, if someone with modding abilities wanted to make a Kerbal Space Program mod they probably already would have.

What would you even do with a KSP mod for Starsector?

Exactly, how do you do KSP as a mod in starsector? If you want a faction mod w/ a style that resembles KSP, there's already some lying around somewhere. Try to find it.

Seriously? People "made a mods of another intellectual property" for thousands of years... it's sad how it took mere decades of brainwashing to turn it to "meh" for some.

and look how far those mods have gotten on here, nowhere, starwars, galactica, star trek, mass effect etc, all in stasis or abandoned, its just not fun for many to recreate something that already exists and those who do it get tired very quickly.

creating something of your own however, is far more interesting and rewarding.

I dunno, I wouldn't call Diable Avionics "meh", though that's a loose example, and I think there's some good room for an Armored Core-related mod if done with a good eye towards fitting in with Starsector mechanics.

I think the main problem is that probably 90+% of the enjoyment from KSP comes from failing. You don't get much enjoyment out of failing in Starsector, you get enjoyment out of almost failing but ultimately being successful. In terms of the 'cobbled together' look, Junk Pirates has a similar look. I also remember some other mod having that look, but can't remember it.
