Mod Idea: The SpaceBarFly Chronicles
« on: January 31, 2015, 07:23:51 AM »

The premise: A brief comic-style story introduces each new playable mission, where the protagonist controls a ship that gets enhanced with each succesful mission, adding new bits-and-pieces and improved stats; the ultimate kitbash.  ;D

The protagonist starts out with a mere mining drone, converted for manned flight.

I don't have the energy and time right now to really dedicate to getting my old mods up to 0.65.1a, so instead I'd like to create a campaign through missions, similar to the one I made for TuP. But this time with a more interesting storyline.

An enhanced mining drone! And it basically gets better and bigger with every mission.

This mod idea is pretty good for the Campaign too, having a small section of the space stations (normally those with a luxury component), gives players a mini-game similar in making a character's role in his/her life, but the expected events are randomly generated.

Like going into a bar, you met a smuggler who asks for a trade with you with a 50% discount of whatever weapon he has, accepting this will either be (a)(1) Successful (2) Being chased off by authorities (3) Being bid off by another captain who offered more cash than the player (b)(4) Where the player can decide not to trade (c)(5) Player decided not to trade, and decided to make a risky attempt to steal the weapon off the smuggler (spawns a small-medium pirate fleet waiting for the player to come out). The letters count as decisions, while the numbers are the possible events that would happened in a bar-shipyard situation.

I can see how the drone will turn out!
Love the idea, is it inspired by shellcore command?

Sounds fun, I'll follow this.

It also seems more manageable to keep up with through version changes as well, that's my main impediment with getting a proper faction campaign thing going. I think I'll just make series of missions with some of my factions instead, it hadn't occurred to me before.
