Retreat option after your last ship is destroyed
« on: September 14, 2014, 01:59:38 PM »

Just a detail: After your last ship on the field has been destroyed the deployment window pops up. It would be nice if that window would also offer the "full retreat" option, since that is usually what you want to do in the situation. Right now you have to kill the pop-up, navigate to the map and find the option there, which is cumbersome.

I don't think that would work, because if you met somebody you didn't want to fight, you could send out a worthless frigate, watch it get blown up, then run away.

if you meet somebody you don't want to fight, you'd just pick the retreat option in the first place, instead of engaging in battle first

Well, if you were slower then the guys you didn't want to fight, then you could do that thing with the frigate, get the emergency speed, and flee.

Actually... no, you couldn't.  Because retreating from the initial engagement doesn't get you out of the battle; you'd then get a second engagement during which, presumably, you would choose to flee - resulting in an escape battle.

Eh, yeah, your options would stay as they are, this would just be an UI change so they are easier to find. That the retreat option is not even known to everyone emphasizes my point.
