Re: [0.7.2a] Version Checker v1.7 (released 2017-03-16)
« Reply #60 on: March 16, 2017, 08:55:46 PM »

Version 1.7 is up, get it here (mirror).

Changelog:
Quote
Version 1.7 (March 16, 2017)
==============================
Switched version file hosting to Bitbucket
New features:
 - Added RecheckVersions command (only if Console Commands mod is installed)
 - Mods that don't support Version Checker are now shown in the notification
   dialog along with their current version and a link to the forum's Mod Index
   so you can manually check for updates
Bug fixes:
 - Fixed comparison of multi-digit patch/RC numbers to single digit ones
 - Fixed spam if an update check failed with an unchecked exception

I'll update the rest of my mods to fix the whole Dropbox issue soon. Sorry about that, this situation blindsided me too. It looks like Dropbox did send advance warning about dropping support for the Public folder a few weeks back, but I registered for the service ages ago with an e-mail I no longer use so I missed it.

Version 1.7b is up, get it here (mirror).

No new features, just a recompile to make it compatible with Starsector 0.8a.

Version 1.7c is up, get it here (mirror).

This fixes a minor issue where recently updated version files hosted on Bitbucket would 404 due to Java internally caching the AWS download URLs (which change when you re-upload a file even if the Bitbucket link doesn't).

If you didn't understand that, don't worry. It just means you shouldn't see update check failure messages anymore if you launch Starsector right after someone updates their mod.

Changelog:

Version 1.7c (April 21, 2017)
===============================
Disabled Java URL caching (fixes a minor Bitbucket version file hosting issue)

Quick question: Would it be possible to have a "Version Checker" mission that, well, check everything without having to launch a new campaign only to find out X mods are outdated? That could be handy I believe (weather it is for tournaments streams or just to avoid losing 10 mins when using a lot of mods).

Sure. I'll also add a console command to show it anywhere.

Um... when version checker says the Mayasuran Navy is outdated, the link brings me to the version checker page instead of the Mayasuran Navy page :'P

Wait a second... um... I think that's actually the integrated version checker that comes with... whatever mod it comes bundled with. SSP is dead, and I can't find the files in Dynasector or Nexerlian... I HAVE A GHOST VERSION CHECKER!!!

The forum link is set in each mod's files (it's the "modThreadId" field in the .version file), so it's out of my control. Luckily it looks like it's already been corrected in the latest version of that mod. :)

And Nexerelin includes a bundled update checker that it will use if you don't have the standalone Version Checker mod activated. They should be identical, however.

Version 1.8b is up, get it here (mirror).

This fixes an issue caused by Bitbucket disabling support for old TLS versions this morning.

It would be awesome if version checker could output a logfile with your list of mods and their version (and which need updating and whatnot), would make it even easier to look for issues.
It could even log when you add/remove/update mods.

Is it possible to have version checker work outside the game? Being able to check which mods updated before launching would be nice, since sometimes by the time I see which mods are updated I just want to keep playing vs update a bunch of mods.

Pretty sure it would need to be a separate program then. Now if we could get SS on a program like Vortex (AKA the new Nexus Mod Manager) then it would be easier to manage and update mods
