Mods wont work

So i extract my mods into the mods folder and tick them in the launcher but i ether get a error message or it just plays the vanilla game. Anyone know whats going on? (i do have lazylib installed and ticked)

Most mods require that you start a new game with them - is that what you're doing?

Would you mind saying what mods and what the error message is? If they give a crash, could you copy the last 50 or so lines of starsector.log (its a long file, but if the crash just happens then the error message will be near the end)?

If they appear in the launcher then they should be installed correctly.

I do start a new game with them. The mod i am trying to play is the Exerelin mod. Its ether the new factions dont load where your setting up the game, (ie when you choose how many asteroid belts you want, sectors, planets) or i get the error message, Fatal: Ship hull variant [zorg_probe_Configurated] not found! Check starsector.log for more info.

I just tried to play the starwars 2.2 and i got this error message.

Fatal: Error loading [graphics/ui/sf_splash1.jpg] resource, not found in
[C:\Program Files (x86)\Fractal
Softworks\Starsector\starsector-core\...\mods\LazyLib - No
Deprecated, C:\Program Files (x86)\Fractal
Softworks\Starsector\starsector-core\mods\star wars
2.2,../starfarer.res/res,CLASSPATH]
Check starsector.log fore more info.

I think the Star Wars mod hasn't been updated in ages?  Could be wrong.

EDIT:
Yup, hasn't been updated yet.

Current release is for 0.54a. Working on a 0.62a update

Try to look for that in older mods or "dead" mods.  Sometimes the author hasn't updated it yet for the latest release, which can take a few weeks depending on how much work was put in.  Mods like Ironclads, for example, will take the longest time to update because Ironclads has a built-in economy system - and with the upcoming update, all of that will be thrown out the window.

With the "official" Exerelin release, the .faction files haven't been updated.  I don't think Zaphide has updated the mod in some time (although it still works with the current release).  Just make sure the factions you've put in have the correct info - if you get an error relating to the faction (like the "zorg_probe_Configurated"), you have to remove those or update them manually.

Zorg V18 should work just fine with Exerelin. Are you using the latest version?

I didn't think Exerelin worked at all, i seem to get some kind of variant or hull error whenever i use any faction in it. so i haven't bothered with it until Zap comes back and updates.
