Battlefield 4 - Released Oct. 29th
« on: October 31, 2013, 08:48:19 AM »

It's every bit as epic as they said, especially the naval combat.

Wasnt aware there's naval combat... what are we looking at here? Full scale fleet actions like wayyy back in 1942 or just speedboat scuffles?

It's not at BF 1942 scale currently, but playing with the attack boats is enough to convince me that they are planning 1942-scale stuff, because the new water engine and vehicle controls are so solid: http://bf4central.com/battlefield-4-boats/

Additionally, according to an official announcement: http://www.shacknews.com/article/80749/battlefield-4-premium-detailed-five-map-packs-planned-through-summer
They're going to add an expansion focused solely on expanding naval combat (Spring 2014). So it feels like the attack boats are just the tip of the iceberg as it were, and they're already ridiculously fun to pilot.

ah, i have heard about the attack boats, not exactly what I wanted :(

naval strike sounds exciting though, maybe I buy it then... Hoping for huge all sea (or mostly sea) maps where carriers form the backbone of each team's fleet with drivable capital ships for escort and boarding actions, now that I do want...

until then guess I'm holding off though

I skipped it, largely because the reviews said it didn't have much to offer SP players, and I don't have the time for MP any more, at least not the kind of MP that requires me to sit around earning points to upgrade my character to be vaguely competitive :)

Yeah ranking up in MP games; huge misstep made by nearly the entire industry.
Such a shame.

Been having alot of fun with this lately, very nice when I just want to play abit and dont have the mind or the time to play Dota 2.

The gunplay is very solid though more similar to the BF-BC2 shooting, I like it alot.
The maps are VERY nicely designed, they are rather dynamic and fun to play on.
There is a good amount of stattweeking attachments, so some theorycrafting works well.
There is a massive amount of camos for weapons and crafts :3

I like it alot, even though it isnt TOO different from BF3.

Yeah it's like BF3.5, so many little polish improvements and things to the core game. Basically the same rules apply to it as BF3, so any BF3 fan should hop on, if you didn't like BF3, stay away.

Got Bf3 for PS3 and loved it. Was always a battlefield fan at heart used to play 2 on the PC back in the day. But I'm prob just gonna wait for ps4 on black friday and get bf4 when it comes out around christmas because I don't think its a launch title but I may be mistaken

While it still retain most aspects of BF3, it does seems to have a more Bad Company 2 aspect, which excites me.  :D
