Since we can now control our battle size in the settings (for those who didn't know, there's a slider in the settings screen), I'm wondering how big are your battles and why.

Personally, I run 300 because I prefer to have all ships out at all times, and 300 usually means my comp runs it at about 30 fps in a full battle at the worst of times, which is an acceptable FPS for me.

idk.... my (modded) sdf is about 350 I think, so if you want to go head to head with one (with even fleet point) that would be 700...

but then that's why we're allowed to mod stuff, right?

speaking of which... Is starfarer primarily CPU or GPU bound? Just wondering...

Max size all the way. Seeing those sexy 1000+ bullet crossfires truly gives scale and immersion to the fights. You may want to micromanage every little fighter in your fleet but when the flux hits the fan you would be lucky to be able to fire a cannon 50 meters before it hits another ship, friend or foe.

Without a massive battle going on the game caps at 60 fps. With a decent sized battle going on i average ~40 FPS. When the kind of crossfire that i described starts up i tend to drop to 20-30.

Still on default, I don't generally put enough points in logistics to make flying about in megafleets viable.

Its already hard to find enemy fleets large enough to give a stand-up fight. They're all yellow cowards D:

Default, because I can't be bothered to spend the four clicks on opening the options window, going to the gameplay settings tab, setting the slider and closing the window. (Also, my fleet is still smaller than the largest enemy fleets, so the limit gives me a bit of an advantage.)

IM pulling 87 FP when i drop everything including my higher upkeep (so only really used for major events) and cargo ships.

id say my average deployment is around 70?

My fleet mostly consists of lashsers. which might be the reason. i tend to avoid anything bigger than a frigate due to speed issues.

But mostly a nice cruiser, a couple of destroyers and a handful of frigates is my mainstay.

The entire point of CR is to do as much as possible with as little as possible, so I goddamn love being a crack team of one destroyer and two frigs and demolishing a much bigger deployment.

I was like this at first, then i discovered the awesome utility of the lasher. And then i got a 2nd lasher, and found the AI wasnt too bad at it....

now i have a lasher rush, 8+ lashers descend on your fleet, burning at speeds you cant match. Like locusts.
