Personally, I'm really exited for the new battlefield mechanics. Finally having logical options before and after every battle, multi-stage engagements, ships entering with burn drive, bigger maps, the escape scenario: All things that promise to take an already great combat system to unknown heights.

Fighter mechanics, hands down. Having the ability to move to a new system is cool, but there isn't any real interaction with the systems themselves yet, so having an additional system really doesn't do much.

Honestly, it is all rather exciting.

All of it's exciting, but I voted "other" because the core of this is that multiple Systems can now be algorithmically generated.  We're going to be able to wander through 50 Systems, buy Stations (through Dialogs), etc.- most of the stuff we've had to do through hacky solutions in the mods will be 100% easier and cleaner to implement.

I don't agree. In fact, I think it's pretty common for any game with a healthy modding community to get full conversion mods that outshine the original in quality. (Subject to personal preferences, of course.)

Which doesn't change the fact, of course, that it's the devs who make it all possible, because without a good base game there's very little for the modders to work with.

It's hard to pick a favorite. Which is probably why there are so may tied for first, haha.

Excited for the fighter changes, though. Love carrier fleets, but they are just not compelling right now.
