:suggestion: Forsaken Laboratories
« on: April 15, 2013, 01:30:37 AM »

Basicly the title, this is just a suggestion i posted for Upgradecap to see but im gussing he doesent check Tim-corp so im posting it for all to see along with some more ideas behind the concept.

but first the original post

"i had an idea for a mystery faction, but im neither a coder or a spriter and i feel like i would suck at both.

I called it the cult of the forsaken labortories.

if you do take this idea feel free to call it or change it however you want but i wanted their main trait to be that they GROW ships out of bio material.

Like the outside of the hull would be bone white and well...floating bone where as their ship system would be some bio regenerating armor organ or something.

I wanted them to have a strong armor belt that can of couse regenerate over time, but poor actuall health.

as for weapons i though like a bile bomb that could eat armor over time but does nothing to shields or like a bone spike cannon that shoots....spikes.

Since their grown their crew requiremnets arent big, but they cant think for themselves so they still need A crew.

If you want ill tell you the concept story i came up with but thats the jist of what i got."

Now its story time, not sure if it should be lore based or not, either way if anyone wants to take the concept its yours to change how you wish, god knows im no artist.

-----Back when money ruled the universe and humanity was all but united under one banner, the unity of man were still looking for new and exiting

ways to destroy. However there was one industry who made it their sole purpose to rebuild. Taking the name "the phoenix renewal" this

corporation made it their interest to construct entire worlds ecosystems into balance for reoccupation. However there were still limits and time

constraints to the projects that were barely efficient, but no one had created a more advanced way then atmospheric proccesors and importing

geneticly modified flora. Then came phoenix renewals secret project. The eve virus (cancer, gene? idk).

-----On a barren world called Tartarus, the renewal sent their top agents and scientists to see if they could make life livable on a planet that had

no life to begin with. This staff devoted their lives and childeren to the task, content to never leave the station in endless pursuit in the attempt

3 generations passed before the task was done. Their creation took existing biomaterial and converted it into what it needed to survive even when

there is no material to be had it sleeps until it comes into contact with the neccecary nutrients to reproduce and shape itself into its own biome.

-----After this creation was revealed to humanities government they were given enough material to make Tartarus live and breath. In a short 20

years the entire world was sprayed with the biomass which then evolved first into living atmospheric converters to force the planet to rain. It dug

into the earth to pump nutriens into the existing ground. And when that was done, it decided it was time for an ecosystem. Resistant and hardy

animals and plants emerged from seemingly nothing and soon blanketed the newly named planet of elysium. Humanity was pleased.

-----However they had another plan for the eve (thing). They saw the potention for using it as aweapon, one that endlessy renewed itself if

released on an inhabited planet. The scienteists who grew to love their creation were horrified for its future and refused to give it up for war.

Humanity didnt give them a choice, they assualted the planet . The inhabitants retalliated.

-----Origionally the phoenix renewal made EVE unable to target humans for assimilattion for fear it would consume them. When it came time

to protect themselves each member donated their DNA to the makeup of EVE so that it knew not to target them and their decendents....but

removed the restraints on all other humans. when humanity came with their great ships they found an entire planet resisting occupation.

EVE was made to destroy anything that stopped assimilation or that destroyed its biomes. They way it did this was to evolve into whatever

would work best against its opponent. Even when humanity thought themselves safe in their ships EVE evolved its own and sent them to battle.

-----With the fear of provoking this virus to spread they abandodned all operations to seize it since whatever sample they could get dissolved itself.

Their fear of beeing overtaken by EVE and Elysium inhabitens ensured no one would start the war that could end all humans they didnt want to

spare. So they lived on silent and content with their creation. No longer calling themselves a part of humanity they called themselves the children

of eve. Humanity called them The cult of the forsaken laboritiory.

Hiya,

I think that the bioships can now be done (i think) as I remember a regenerating hull system, and as there is a AOE  weapon the bile weapon can be made, obviously the spine weapon is doable.

I don't think that Cappy will use this in the TimCORP though as its more human based, and bioships are really hard to sprite (not many bioships drawn look organic)

oh i know he wont use it FOR timcorp, he was taking suggestions for a faction. i would never defile timcorp with a dirty virus =P.

As for bioships being hard i always thought they were hard beacuse people liked putting tentacles and weird stuff like eyeballs on them. I think solid bone and marrow would be easier to sprite as they are smooth. Idk i may be wrong.

even saw okim's rockfly ? you cant really get more "bio-ship" than this  ;D

if youre going for a stargate wraith hive-ship style, its even better. still a bioship but without a ludicrous look (like the tentacles and stuff you mentionned)

I'm still waiting for a Cult of Lud mod... and a Cult of the Elder Gods mod... but this cult looks interesting, but then again, I find many ideas interesting; I need a new word to use.

it's ok okim... If I had a badass bioship/spacemonster and this comes up, I probably wouldn't be able to resist either

okim i play ironclads and the rockfly kills entire fleets with drones and its hella cool. but the biomatter im suggesting isnt exactly an animal or insect. just a form.

the ships i had in mind arent living things really, they have sensor organs and gun appendiges that are still controlled by people as gross as it may
be. Why? (other than there be an excuse to be crew) but also so the Cult still control eve, other wise it would spread everywhere far and wide.

the rock fly eats........rocks right? and that swarm it launches is its offspring.

its pretty solitary otherwise, so i dont see much relation....unless you were planning to make fleets of the thing or varients (scary notion)  Please
explain if this idea rips you off somehow.

I just saw people mentioning my Fly, so i posted it :)

The idea of bio-ships is interesting. Actually i remember seeing some of these ships here on the forums. I`m a big fun of Lexx, SG: Atlantis, Frontier. Even XCOM: Apocalypse had alien organic UFOs. They were grown, but controlled by aliens.

Yeah, with Cultists being able to survive a direct heavy launcher hit and aliens activating shields on their UFOs and arming themselves with disruptors on the week two :)

I even modded that game, but never finished it. The main goal was to make maps larger to support Megaspawns and Psilords. Forced players to shot down battleships and motherships before they unload their package in some residential area. Imagine a Megaspawn in the middle of the GravBall stadium? If you even played Duke Nukem - you`ll get what i`m talking about :)

ugh one time the cultists assulted the police force and won before i could tell what was happening.

Later that game i had a mission where the aliens discharged a bomb and destroyed a beam that held up the upper level, it was the last guy and i  had comed the entire grage looking for him. When i knew where he was i grouped up and he collapsed the level under me.

i didnt recover from that -_-.
