Sim City
« on: March 19, 2013, 07:53:41 AM »

Well i went off and did a stupid mistake on the day Sim City was released and got it... i havent had much problems getting on the servers... (Timezone maybe?) but the game was still tad expensive and i lost approx 12 hours of gaming due to "Unable to save on cloud" or something but i guess it's not all bad. As it stands if you buy Sim City before march 25th you'll get a game for free from the following choises:

•Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
•Bejeweled 3
•Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
•Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
•MOHW (Standard Edition)
•NFS Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
•Plants vs. Zombies
•SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

So i was wondering has there been any other unfortunate ones who bought this? And which one of those games are you going to take?  From what i'v heard MOHW isnt worth it and i already own BF3 and ME3 so Dead Space 3 here i come! XD

Edit: DAMN IT! I need to read all the topics first before starting a new one! <.< I dont know if it's possible to delete topics but... meh!

I got it (and I find it fun, contrary to popular opinions :p). I dunno what I'll get-this machine can barely handle much.

Aye the game is fun. It really is fun but it's hard to do anything if you cant actually get on to play it. So far i have seen this only once on my end but seems that other people are not that lucky. :p

Maybe it's a joy of being in the European timezone, yeah.
Only real gripe is how slow it can be early game. Gonna play again once cheetah speed comes back

Have a fish around the install files, dive into .txts and try to find these two lines of code
kNoRepeatNetworkAlertSeconds : 15, kNetDownForceQuitAfterMinutes : 20,
Delete them. Voila. Offline mode. Enjoy!

Really, I don't need to do offline mode, plus:
No saving
No help from other player's mass transit, school buses, garbage trucks, recycling trucks, fire trucks, ampbulances, police cars (and all secondary things).
No global market
No schools from other cities
No chance for a great works
No chance for several specializations
No possibility for friends to play with you
No point in certain buildings (like the Vu Tower)
No tourists
No air pollution from others
No place for your residents to go to is they don't wanna shop in your town.
Seriously, the game was based around co-operationand inter-city play. Maybe the franchise isn't, but they can change it, can't they? If you don't want it, don't play it. I know you're probably pretty *** about the DRM, Xareh, but it's not that bad in this game (not that it's a good thing. It could be far, far worse).

If you want that, play Sim City 4. Problem solved, and you aren't supporting EA's policy of persecuting customers with DRM.

Dood, I don't even have this game :P dem facts be wrong. As far as I have entirely heard... none of any of what you said works. Supposedly, the inter city connectivity is broken and buggy as hell, and even then, d'you know what? There's a mod coming out... either now or in a few days or a week or so that'll enable you to build outside of the 2KM boundary. It works fine! No need for other cities. Checkmate, multiplayer.

Supposedly there's also a development being made to redirect saves to save to and load from HDD storage... you DO NOT need the servers whatsoever.

And I'm saying if you play SC4, then you'll be able to save without having to be online. And you'll actually be able to play the game in the first place without being at the mercy of the EA servers

And i'm saying i don't have SimCity 5 or 2013 or whatever, so i already don't worry about some servers of some E with A.

Have you actually tried playing the game? The game works FINE! I'll say it again the game works JUST FINE! The game itself doesnt have any problems it's the bloody SERVERS that are the issue here.
