No we don't, not even close, not even if we melted down every single piece of metal on the planet would there be enough, the death star is the size of the moon if not bigger, and even then the interior is not accounted for.

even if it is possible. it isnt really practical.
if you want to build something to defend earth build a giant fancy death star laser on the ground.
building it in space would only make sence if you want it to attack stuff which we dont even know is reachable.

Not entirely correct. What if something attacks when the big laser cannon is pointing in the big-ol arse end of nowhere? At least a Death Star would be able to (slowly) move to get a good shot at things.

Personally though, I'd prefer a few dozen battlestars
