Very nice build indeed. Also a good thing that you're getting a 1920x1080p screen too. The ram is going to be sufficient for now, although, if you'd want to play a bit more hardcore games, i'd suggest you get another 8GB stick. That could help immensely. Also a good thing that you have a GTX 660M. Very nice laptop card indeed.

The HDD is sufficient for now, i guess. I'd rather get a 750GB SSD, but, the HDD is fine too.

Could you recommend a good 8GB RAM I could stick in myself?

Depends on the brand of the laptops RAM stick. If it's a corsair stick, you can't buy an Kingston stick to add to ir, as that won't work. You'll need to buy the precisely same brand RAM stick that the laptop has.

Hmm. You could always exchange the first RAM stick to a Corsair or Kingston one, but if you're short on funds, i wouldn't really recommend this as it would mean you'd have to buy two RAM sticks.

My Limit is around £900 or $1445, so I could just get two on it anyway, ther is a option for kingston 1600 but the max is 4gb, i would rather get 8gb ones instead of 12gb (max 24gb RAM)

HOLD THE PHONE

The GTX660M suffers the same problems as the desktop 660Ti. It's good for now, but it's got the memory bandwidth problems...

Mh, i'd rather go with the 8GBs too. Also, i think you could get a few corsairs to fit in there, as i said before, if you remove the first one. Though i don't really know whether or not you could afford that, since i'm not sure on the price on RAM sticks right now.

My dad has a pair of 8GB Corsair sticks in his Dell XPS l702x 17" and they run fine (16GB). You CAN get Vengeance versions which have 1,600MHz clocks, but you need to set that in the BIOS.

Admittedly I don't know what you're intending to use the machine for, but for 99% of users 8GB of ram is more than enough.

However, not putting an SSD into such a high spec laptop is criminal.

If your main purposes is playing games you do not need more than 4GB of ram.
Quote
A game can use more than 4GB of RAM in 2 ways:
-64 bit binaries, requiring 64-bit OS (I think FarCry 1 was the 1st 64-bit-available game)
-32 bit binaries spread in multiple processes
So for 99% of games you wont need more than 4Gb and you have already 8Gb. Another 8Gb is just waste of money.

Cheers mate, I was a little worried about the specs needed as I do use video software as well, but I think it will be fine.  ;D
