According to Einstein something traveling faster than light will go backwards in time. Yes, really.
How come it's "really"? Is he doing that so he know or is it just theory? (well there was that experiment, Italians did it, they accelerated one part of light (or something like that) so it was faster then speed of light and well, thing was "detected", before it was turned on.)

Ah, that was a bit to short, sry. With Einstein I meant special relativity (the English term did not come to mind). And "really" is not the fact of timetravel, but the mathematical prediction of it should the speed of light be exceeded. Which wont happen (according to what we know).

Fun stuff!

Cherenkov radiation is one of the few things in physics that seem to be perfect for sci-fi shows. I mean, a source of great power that radiates a blue glow? Next thing you know we will have audible explosions and artificial gravitation in space.

What does really happen if we where to go beyond the speed of light?

According to Einstein something traveling faster than light will go backwards in time. Yes, really.
not backwards just slower through time and when getting faster it wont go backwards.
going faster would mean we need to adjust the theory to the new maximum speed.

so with neutrino's , if they would go faster than light. they would replace light speed in the theory and formula's.

The reason why it happens is that time slows down as you go closer to the speed of light. Therefore, time must go backwards (theoretically) after passing the speed of light.

We have sent things back in time, but we've discovered that you can only send them as far back as when the machine was created. So, no killing Hitler ( unless somebody then built a time machine able to transport humans across time. Unlikely, though.)

Well... not so much. In general relativity nothing can go faster than the speed of light - the theory doesn't mention at all what happens when something goes past it, because that is its fundamental principle. For a while there was excitement about neutrino readings that seemed to be FTL, but they were shown to be false.

Do you have a link or something for sending something back in time? I haven't heard of that and it would be the greatest discovery in human history.

No, unfortunately- I heard about it from some...thing about time travel.
