I don't see anything about ammo or phase..  ???

 ;D

So phase ships may still be in?

But yeah, the ammo ships were very clearly ammo ships, especially given the recent discussion regarding them, I'm not surprised you put them up.

Indeed, no fair!

While we're on the subject of awesome, I'm seriously looking forward to getting that high-tech cruiser into the game. And the destroyer. I'm already starting to come up with loadouts for them in my head :D

Oh? What makes it high-tech?

hi tech refers to the style IIRC: the tri-tachyon stuff (at least I think they make those ships)

Yeah, it's the visual style. However, they also differ in armaments and stats.

High-tech:
Good shields, speed. Beam and missile weapons, generally.

Midline:
Ok shields & speed. Beam and projectile weapons, with some small missile hardpoints thrown in.

Low-tech:
Good armor, generally poor speed. Projectile and missile weapons.

The rules aren't hard and fast, though - more like general guidelines.

Ah ok, By high-tech I thought you meant it had some abilities or equipment that allowed for some advanced / supportive combat (such as missile jamming).

Well, when we implement systems, the high-tech style ships will get the more high-techy ones :)

Wow the concept art is amazing... I suspect each "Race"/"faction" will have their own... visual style?

p.s. what program do you guys use to make the pixel art?

Cheating is what I do best, baby! After all, I am from Eastern Europe.

...

Did I just call David "baby?" Aaah, the vagaries of poor jokemanship.

All looks amazing, a joy to get a tiny bit of insight!

The amount of talent, creativity and effort required to get them to the level David has them all, it's just astounding really. I'm in awe  ;D

And Ivaylo, I like your poor jokemanship. Please keep at it (but not too much, in case you get good at it  ;))

Thanks!

I use Photoshop for everything.

I don't consider it exclusively pixel art in the strict definition because I will use (digital) brushes for many stages of work, especially the early concepts and then again for rounded forms and final adjustment of shading. Most of the fine detail is of course done with a hard 1-pixel brush, but I vary the opacity and re-sample as I work with my left hand on the keyboard while the right is on the wacom tablet.
