This game needs a topic, because, for those of us who can play (whom I would like to know so we can play together sometime) it is stupidly awesome! For those who don't know, Hawken is an FPS mech combat game that is unfortunately in closed beta, and they don't seem to be giving out many buddy keys Anyway, who else plays, and what do you guys thinks?

I didn't like it; terrible performance, crappy graphics, clunky controls, rather simplistic gun play, and unappealing free to play model.

Last time I played*, the unlocks were all upgrades, not side-grades - and apply only to the mech for which they were purchased.
(*It might have changed since then)

The only F2P games I've liked the implementation of so far are PoE (Path of Exile) and B:R (Blacklight: Retribution).

Blacklight Retribution has a really good business model, if you ignore incendiary rounds :S

Anyway, I find it hard to complain about F2P business models as long as they don't nag on you to buy things, which Hawken doesn't do.
And of course I've started Youtube videos on it >_> ...

I was invited in in Alpha 2, but surveymonkey kept crashing the game. It was funny, the survey was there to let me tell the developers what I thought of the game, but the survey itself prevented me from playing it
