Looking for a laptop cooling device for a 13 inch Macbook...
« on: November 25, 2012, 10:43:26 AM »

SO I got Windows 7 running in Bootcamp on my Macbook, and I can run games that run with 4fps on lowest settings on Mac, but 60+FPS on Windows with highest settings ;D. But sometimes my Macbook overheats and shuts down, I tried cleaning the fans and everything, but I need something to cool it down, but I'm having trouble finding a cooler, lol can anyone here recommend me a good laptop cooler?.

Stick it in the freezer overnight or something.
Rig up a air cooler that pumps cold air into it.

Or be boring and buy a cooling pad

If your mac overheats so much it shuts down, you've gotta go to some repair specialists and make sure it's actually all right. Coulda fried the parts...
Check akasa.

Yeah, the auto shutdown is bad news, but if the temperature sensors were working right it should be ok.

Is it an all aluminum macbook? They use the body for cooling, so a cheap solution is to prop it up on two opposite sides so that there is a nice airgap underneath. Then get a desk fan to blow underneath.

It sounds silly but it worked wonders for a macbook I had ~5 years ago that kept overheating. (I built an open platform out of kinex :P).

My laptop is all plastic, but I recently repaired everything, sensors, heat sinks, and logic board, this turns out to be a problem for many people running Windows on a Mac laptop, it's actually because Apple won't update the software for Bootcamp ::). The best I can do is to cool it down.

If your laptop is getting hot enough that it's shutting down, I wouldn't recommend keeping it as a "lap"top. If you're a man, then it can sterilize you by cooking your nads. There are even cases of getting 1st-degree burns from laptops that are too hot.

Don't know of anything specific, but there are plenty of options when it comes to cooling mats. Some are even liquid cooled.
