Hi - are your graphics drivers up-to-date? Have you tried rebooting recently?

I just restarted and that didn't help. My drivers are up-to-date.

Hmm. Can you try running a clean vanilla install to see if that makes a difference? From the log, it looks like you're running with a bunch of mods and with Java 8; the latter is not supported and is known to cause problems.

(By a "clean" install, I mean manually removing the Starsector folder (after copying any saves/mods/etc you care about elsewhere), and then reinstalling with a fresh download of the installer.)

Edit: were you able to run the game on this computer before? If so, do you know what changed between now and then?

I can play the game from a fresh restart with no changes made to the vmparams or the jre folders. As well as no mods.

Alex, i have good news! Installing Java 7 JRE fixed the LWJGL Exception error. I can play with all the mods I had previously tried to use. I could make changes to the vmparams folder and start and create a new game with no problems expect for my potato laptop's framerate.

I suspect Java 8 was to blame, then - if you get your mods copied back, and then install a 64-bit version of Java 7 (and modify vmparams etc) then it should work.

I'm now having this problem as well. It was working last week, I believe I have installed 2 updates for windows 7 (64 bit) and I know my graphics driver is updated. I have tried a fresh install and it is still happening for some reason. If you need any other information let me know.

EDIT: I just noticed the troubleshooting section (my fault), trying the suggested solution.

EDIT 2: The solution in this thread (http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=11596.msg197697#msg197697) fixed the problem. Again sorry for the necro, was the result of google searching and it being midnight.

Make sure you have Java 7 installed. Java 8 results in problems.

No worries, glad you got it sorted out. Someone actually just emailed me recently that the very latest driver - Nvidia (hotfix) 378.57 - also fixes the issue.

Me too, I'm really enjoying this game. I keep watching FallenShogun's videos on the game and enjoy his commentary. Thanks for the info about Nvidia.. I'll be sure to update to that once I get a chance.

The colour is on 32 bit.
What can i do now to get the game running?

Are you getting the same error as the one listed in the thread? if so, try downloading the very latest driver - Nvidia (hotfix) 378.57

Yeah just bought the game today installed it, ran it, hit "play starfarer"and it came up with

I've updated to the latest beta drivers in an effort to fix the problem, however it still come up with this error. also I can also play minecraft fine...
I'm using a laptop with an Nvidia Geforce 9300m GS.
Any ideas?

I seem to be getting similar problems in 2019 but I can’t do the replace java methods and I cans send a picture, all it will do is load the bar Once is finished it will close telling me the fatal crash

Sorry about the trouble! Could you look in the logfile - starsector.log - and post what the error stack trace there says?
