If You Could Have A Weapon From Another Game...
« on: November 21, 2012, 07:08:55 PM »

What weapon would it be? Any weapon, any game.

For me, it's one of my favorite videogame weapons of all time:
The Cerebral Bore (from the Turok series): Fires a homing projectile that homes in on an opponents head, drills out their brains, and detonates. I think this would make for a deliciously inhumane weapon in Starfarer. A missile that homes in on an enemy ship, drills through the side of the ship (spewing out crew in the process), and then blows up. Efficient? Not really. Awesome? Yup.

Void rays beam from SC2 a beam weapon that got stronger the longer it was focused on a target would be amazing.

I went with void ray because its a unique mechanic. Although a weapon that had a charge time and unleashed a devastating blow after that could be cool too.

Void ray's increased DPS over time would be a fun mechanic to implement in a game like Starfarer for sure.

Yeah, that sounds really interesting. Could be a new weapon or spice up things like the HIL. Make a suggestion out of it maybe?

Played a mod with a similar weapon (forgot which one), it was a beam weapon that took couple seconds to fire after activating, then fired for several seconds doing IMMENSE damage (9999 burst).  Had a long CD and slow turn speed but anything smaller than a Cap would destroyed or have it's shields overloaded.  It was a fun weapon.

Would love to see the void ray mechanic too.

Without a doubt, the Heavy Beam Cannon of Homeworld 2s'  Sajuuk capital ship. It's the single most powerful weapon in the game, being able to destroy the most powerful buildable ships in the game with less than 3 shots, and it requires all 3 of the hyperspace cores in existence (in the games' universe) to fire.

The super death beam cannon from Project Sylpheed's final boss.

That thing's scarier than a deathstar...

All that is peanuts. Gimme a D-gun, a Retaliator missile or 2 and a Implosion Device. Bye Bye Universe, I'm resetting it!

Does the infection beam have a range of 20km? I don't think so!
