;D We get two inches of snow here, we got out.  Snow is kinda uncommon where we are (we maybe get snow two or three times a year, all maybe a few inches total),  but up in the northern states, they get two feet of snow and don't give a ***. ;)

its funny how different places handle snowfall

In Jerusalem if they get a few inches the city just shuts down

In New York it takes a few feet

And in Moscow they mock how little snow it takes to get a New Yorker to shutdown while standing in front of a 12 foot snow bank

<raises hand>

Fully expecting to lose power for a couple of days - trying to get in as much work as possible before that happens :)

Though, if losing power is the worst of it, I've got no cause to complain.

Yea, just get the most charge out of your laptop and hope to survive. ;D
The people here in my town do a really good job of getting power back up, the worst was I belive two days.

And losing power really isn't that bad.  So long I've got a deck a cards and a few friends, I can play poker or blackjack as long as the chips aren't lost. :)
Where are you again, Alex?  If you're up north or south on the east seaboard, you're really got nothing to worry about.  New Jersey, and more specifically Middlesex County, is going to have the eye of the storm pass right over us. -_-

I'm a little ways north of DC.

Don't have a laptop, curiously enough :) Well, if you don't count the macbook I use for testing. Which I wouldn't.

The worst power outage to date here was this summer - ~4-5 days, with temperature in the 90s. Hopefully this won't be as bad, but the forecasted winds are right up there with the summer storm's.

90s without power?  That's gotta hurt. ;D

Anything that has a battery life of more than an hour and can run an internet browser I call a laptop.  If that macbook can't do that, then that thing is sorely behind. XD

Good luck to everyone - I'm in western Massachusetts so will probably be ok for this one. Fingers crossed!

I like how in America a Hurricane is a huuge deal, though in Australia where I live we can clean up and stuff after a Cyclone in less than a year.

EDIT: Not that they aren't, just America can't clean up after them.

Hurricane Katrina.  Kinda a HUGE hurricane.  The one here is a tiny one compared to that.

Eye of the storm passed near us, but I live near DC, and we didn't lose power. Worst that happened to us was a couple small branches fell near our tenant's car, and we tracked a lot of leaves indoors. Also cabin fever.
