XCOM - Enemy Unknown
« on: October 15, 2012, 10:19:06 AM »

I wish that Alex have time to go over XCOM devs and fix their game. It's totally screwed -.- It have some nasty skills bugs and some skills do not work or work only occasionally it's so frustrating and... and... that's not all there is much more... Some stuff in core mechanic that should be flushed out in alpha... Why more devs are not like you? WHY!?  :'(

So, who else play this?

Do not buy it. You set up nice ambush for enemy, you got all planed out and when enemy activate it your sniper decide not to overwatch it, your assault forget to make close combat specialist your heavy decide to tell you that he eat ALL freaking ammo with suppression your barely damaged robot decide to not work any more and ofc your flanking support cant FLANK (because entire flank mechanic is bugged) damn alien from behind!... Beauty of this game is exactly in making detailed tactical plan how to deal with situation on screen. Entire game is in it in using skills and combination of soldiers and IT DO NOT WORK!

HOW?! How someone with enormous amount of $$$$$ can't build game that work? I... Just... Can't... It's...I'm... So... So... Sad...`

Oh, and yes, like someone else already stated, AAA games are only good to kill time between Starfarer updates.

Yea I get that.  My son downloaded the demo on his ps3.  Wasnt really impressed.  Rather contunue to play UFO:AI

http://ufoai.org

Free game.  Can get into the file system easy and change stuff.  Still in alpha but you cant beat free sometimes.
It "kinda" reminds me of the original.  Still have that installed on my pc but the graphics.   :P  Just cant do it.
This keeps me occupied until Alex releases the next update.  ( Which looks to be huge )

I haven't played it myself, but it's widely agreed upon in Bay12 that the demo sucks and doesn't do the game justice.

Anyway, I don't know about you guys but I'm enjoying the game. It has it's quirks, but to me they don't ruin the game.

Yea you have a point.   I dont mind playing the older games with older graphics.  I look at the new xcom and just think.  These graphics with the old programming would equal " GAME OF GREATNESS "
But thats what starfarer is for.   ;D

I'd settle for a re-release with all the bugs fixed, UI improved, maybe a little extra content for us veterans, and MULTIPLAYER BI***ES!!!  :D

This game is great fun and all but the difficulty curve is all wrong.  It starts off very difficult (at least on classic/impossible) but then it gets progressively easier and easier once you get some decent satellite coverage.

Personally, I think it's even more wacky than that: I think it starts off fair, then spikes massively in difficulty around the first Terror mission and the introduction of Mutons, then gradually lowers in difficulty as you go.

Agreed. Not to mention I always play on Iron Man.  ::)

I rush laser tech (I feel much more comfortable with this tech decision because I play ironman mode) so first terror/mutons were actually pretty easy for my playthroughs.
