Having played GTA myself, I'd like to say Sleeping Dogs retains a good deal of the sandbox spirit of GTA, but also has a greater emphasis on plot and main quests. In between quests, you can still run around, steal cars, shoot/ roundhouse kick random people, *** off the cops, etc. but I think that some of the plot sequences are pretty cool and the combat system is hundreds of times better than GTA. Really, I think that it is like a GTA set in Hong Kong with some splashes of Arkham City's combat, Infamous's parkour (though to a lesser degree), and some kind of 3rd person shooter. I think that the city itself is much better looking and more interactive and that there is a far greater variety of cars, clothing, sidequests, and places to be explored. I would read/watch some reviews before, but I think that it is worth purchasing.
