May i suggest that you try things such as lowering mass and turn speed, as well as having nebulas cover the map. I believe this may help with giving the game a land battle feel.

Lowering speed across the board is on my to-do list. Lowering mass wouldn't make much sense since it is only there to calculate collision. The mission maps will have more trees scattered in small clusters to mimic the "land battle" feel.

Humans sure seem to be popular with you guys.  :)

Anyhoo, I'll also add "lesser" races that don't have their own lands, like Dwarves, Kobolds, Giants, Ogre Outcasts and so on. These are randomly for hire at castles and often have their own unique weapons and spells.

God, this mod is going to be sweet! Will you be replacing the station graphic with a city graphic of some sort? Also, when are the alvermen going to be intoduced? Oh, how about mounted troops and heros?

Neat-o!
I like the goatmen, you should make up more of your own races rather than use the old stand-bys. Honestly it p****s me off that the same stuff gets used so often!

"A new fantasy game eh? Wonder what the factions are.. *Humans (arrogant, money grubbing), Elves (wise, Dark/Light optional), Orcs (dumb, reckless), Dwarves(orcs that can build things)*"
-.-

The exception being universes that manage to do it differently i.e. WH40K

I should have been more clear... Having the nebulas will mean that the drift disappears and instead objects will have friction as they do on land

Alvermen
Alvermen. What can be said for the Alvermen? Sadly, not much. Are they bearded Elves? They make poor soldiers, are easily distracted and are especially frail. Their armour is not noteworthy. Skinny and short as they are, they're physically much weaker than the other races. With practically no redeeming talents, it is a blessing that they're so eager and quick to breed. What they lack in quality they make up for in sheer numbers.

Scout

Ranger

Featherguard

Sheriff

Redcap

Alverman hero:

Greencap

Mercenaries

Giant

Giant Warrior

Orc

Orc Warrior

I'm currently working on more mercenaries and bows.

Shortbows: short range, low damage
Crossbows: short range, high damage
Composite Shortbows: long range, low damage
Longbows: long range, high damage

Bows use ammunition. If a unit runs out it will have to switch to a backup weapon.

In case you are wondering what inspired the Alvermen:

A Flemish / Dutch tv series from the 1960's about a folklore character called an Alverman. Basically a Leprechaun/ Elf/ Gnomish creature. Feathered hat and all. A bit different from your stereotypical Elf or Gnome.

My own plans aside, what would you like to see in Fantasy Farer?

Things I've got planned:

-Storyline through missions
-Stand-alone missions (the demo missions I'm making will be refined and stand-alone)
-Campaign
-Stations will be turned into fortified cities
-Map will be full of defensive and offensive armies for each major faction. Independant mercenaries and hostile brigands will also roam the map (much like in M&B) and there will be trade caravans
-24 swords and several unique named swords
-24 bows + several unique bows
-24 polearms + several unique ones
-Spells (Fireball, Icebolt, Lightningbolt - depending on what colour you like) with increasingly more powerful versions
-3 heroes for each major faction, plus several "mercenary" heroes
-Mercenary armies for sale at cities, to give some variety in troops

Some of it would be hard to translate, definitely, but I'd strongy encourage you to pick up the game 'Dungeon of Dredmor' off of Steam. I imagine you could draw some inspiration from it.

I'm excited about being a crossbowman.
